Florida Shelter Dog Who Slept on Hard Floor for 420 Days Lights Up After Getting a Bed

Like all shelter dogs, Ace dreamed of finding a family and being loved unconditionally.

He waited and waited for someone to give him a chance, but potential adopters kept walking past.

After spending more than 420 days at Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption & Protection Center in Florida, the four-year-old dog began to lose hope.

He had no idea his life was about to change.

Getting a Taste of Comfort

On October 9th, 2024, as Hurricane Milton approached, the shelter asked locals to foster animals for a few days to keep them safe.

Gabrielle Brudner and her family answered the call and headed to the shelter.

When they saw Ace lying on a thin blanket over the hard floor, their hearts sank. He had even developed sores from lying on such an uncomfortable surface.

They decided to foster him and give him some much-needed comfort and love.

As Ace realized he was finally leaving the shelter, he could hardly contain his joy. He bounced with excitement.

Free from the shelter noise, he felt peaceful for the first time in a long while.

Ace embraced the affection from his fosters and quickly won them over.

Gabrielle grew deeply attached to him and hoped he’d find the right permanent home soon.

After a few days, Ace was transferred to a new foster family.

Gabrielle missed him terribly. When she learned the new home wasn’t working out, she couldn’t stop thinking about him.

Back at the shelter, Ace was placed into a two-week obedience and training program.

A Forever Home at Last

Gabrielle wasn’t alone in missing him — her whole family had fallen for Ace.

They realized they didn’t want to be without him, so they made the decision to adopt.

When Gabrielle’s dad broke the news, she was thrilled.

As soon as Ace finished his training, his new family came to pick him up and bring him home. His heart was full.

They bought him a soft bed and a blanket personalized with his name to make him feel welcome.

He was overjoyed. He stretched out on his new bed, clearly soaking up the love and comfort.

Gabrielle posted a video of his reaction on TikTok, and people couldn’t get enough.

Ace was finally living the life he deserved: warm, safe, and surrounded by people who loved him.

From lying on a cold shelter floor for over a year to enjoying his own cozy bed, Ace’s journey was complete thanks to the Brudner family.
