Let’s face it… most of us have faked being unwell at some point. Maybe it was to skip a boring class or to get out of a social gathering. But in Rambo’s case, the act was all about love.

This 10-year-old Great Pyrenees put on quite a show, pretending to be weak and fragile, all in the hopes of finding a forever family where he could spend his senior years in peace.
A Trickster With A Tender Heart
You might be wondering how a dog could fool so many people. The truth is, Rambo has some serious acting skills.
He and his brother, Diesel, arrived at the Humane Society of Monroe County when their former family could no longer care for them. At 10 years old, Rambo’s life suddenly turned upside down.
Not long after, Diesel found a new family, while Rambo was left behind.
The heartbreak was overwhelming for Rambo and for those who cared for him. He became distant, unsteady, and moved so slowly that the staff believed he needed hospice care for what they thought were his final days.
With little hope of adoption, volunteer Morgan stepped in and offered to foster him, giving Rambo a quiet, loving place to stay.
Then came the surprise. Once in Morgan’s home, Rambo revealed his true self. Instead of a frail old dog, he was playful, lively, and full of energy.
“He is a 10 year old feeble old man who could hardly walk. We sent him home with two lovely ladies to live out the last of his life. But Rambo is a big, fat fibber! He jumped a fence, he chases balls and he plays! The shame,” the Michigan rescue wrote in their post.
The shelter staff and followers could not believe they had been tricked so perfectly, and the reactions were priceless.
“Look at his face.. he has no shame,” one person commented.
“The stubbornness of a Pyrenees is powerful lol! I love when hospice dogs bamboozle everyone,” another chimed in.
Thriving In His Forever Home
Rambo’s little act of deception paid off in the sweetest way. Now officially adopted, he has become a cuddly, joyful companion.
Even though he fooled everyone at first, Rambo truly is a gentle and affectionate senior who adores people.
“He loves everyone and is just the sweetest senior man,” the rescue shared in another update.
Thanks to Morgan, who decided to keep him, Rambo now enjoys a home where he can live out his golden years surrounded by love.
He spends his days chasing balls, going on walks, playing with his family, and, of course, soaking up cuddles.
Rambo may have pretended to be weak to get his happy ending, but now he can finally enjoy life without any disguises. And who knows, he may still have a few tricks left up his sleeve to make everyone smile.
