There are different reasons why dog owners surrender their dogs to shelters.
However, regardless of the reason their humans give them up, dogs feel the same heartbreak and confusion when they suddenly lose their beloved family and their home.
Stitch, a bully mix, experienced that loss when he found himself at Fulton County Animal Services in Georgia. His family gave him up due to financial reasons, but Stitch couldn’t have known that.
All Stitch knew was that in the blink of an eye he lost his beloved humans and that he now needed to find a new home.
Sadly, because the shelter Stitch was in was overcrowded, the shelter made the heartbreaking decision to place him on the euthanasia list.
Is there any hope for the sweet dog?
A True Hero Arrives Just In Time

A wonderful woman named Hester often helps animals in need, so as soon as she saw the list of dogs scheduled to be put down on the shelter’s website, she checked it out.
The moment she saw Stitch, she decided to step in to save him even though she knew nothing about him at the time.
When Hester met Stitch for the first time at the Georgia shelter, he was frightened. Due to his overwhelming fear, he didn’t want to walk, so the staff carried him around the shelter.
Once Hester cuddled him, she could tell that he badly craved affection.
Stitch grew anxious as he was about to leave the shelter. He was unsure of what would happen next.
The shelter volunteer helped Hester coax him to the car.
When Stitch moved in with his foster mom, she realized that the dog had never lived indoors. He felt nervous and unsure of how to act indoors.
He seemed more relaxed when he was outdoors.
Hester doesn’t know how long Stitch will stay at her home, but she is happy to foster him as long as he needs a place to stay.
The Dog Hopes For A Second Chance At Love

Right now, Stitch is decompressing and getting used to life in a home.
Since he also needs to heal from his kennel cough and get neutered, it’s expected that the dog will be available for adoption in a few weeks.
In a TikTok video (@abigailhester_), Hester documented the emotional moment she pulled “the most fearful dog” from the shelter and saved him from euthanasia.
The footage warmed the hearts of the TikTok community who were happy that Stitch got a second shot at life.
Hester hopes her positive foster experiences will inspire others to foster or adopt animals in need, while also showing just how lovable and adorable bully breeds truly are.
Thank you Hester for saving Stitch’s life. We can’t wait to see the doggo turn a new page in his life and find his happily ever after.
