Day after day, Katerina sat quietly in the shelter, watching people come and go, somehow always being the one left behind. She was calm, affectionate, and impossible not to root for, yet still she waited and wondered why no one was picking her.

Her Hopes For A Family Keep Fading
Katerina held onto the hope that someone would walk through the doors and see her for who she truly was.
The shelter’s veterinary team gave her a full health check and confirmed she was heartworm negative. They began treatment immediately, and her future adopters wouldn’t have to worry about the cost.
To give her every possible chance, Dolly’s Dream, a nonprofit focused on helping Pit Bulls, covered her adoption fee.
Still, despite all efforts, no one came forward to take her home.
Each day, Katerina stood close to the front of her kennel, her eyes filled with longing. She watched families walk past, her tail slowing with each missed opportunity.
The shelter staff and volunteers couldn’t bear to see her overlooked any longer. They knew she was special and wanted the world to see her the way they did.
Determined to make her visible, the team posted a note on her kennel in bold letters, “THE INVISIBLE DOG.”
The message read:
“Can you see me? Can you say my name and say ‘Hello?’ I’ve been here for months and I have been overlooked. Nobody wants to see me or take me home. I’m not invisible. I’m actually quite a catch. I love kids, dogs, playing ball, going for walks and giving hugs. I’m an all-around good, friendly dog. Please notice me. My heart is breaking,” the note read.

The shelter filmed Katerina waiting quietly in her kennel, the note taped across the door. When they shared the video on social media, it quickly went viral.
People from all over were moved by her story, and thousands began rooting for her to find the family she deserved.
