When a homeless person found Midge wandering the streets, they gently scooped her up and brought her to Desert Hot Springs Animal Care in North Palm Springs, California.
The staff welcomed her warmly and began uncovering her story.
It turned out Midge once had a home. According to reports, she jumped out of a car window when her family stopped at a gas station and got lost.
The shelter quickly contacted her owners to let them know she was safe, hoping they’d be thrilled to reunite. And they did come, just not in the way anyone expected.
Heartbreak At The Shelter

Midge’s family assured the shelter they would return to pick her up once she was spayed.
The little pup waited patiently, trusting their promise. But as the days passed, it became clear: they weren’t coming back.
Midge’s spirits slowly began to fade.
The shelter staff did everything they could to brighten her days and give her hope for a new beginning. They shared her story repeatedly on social media, doing their best to draw attention to her.
But sadly, no one reached out to adopt her.
While other dogs found homes, Midge remained in her kennel, always the one left behind.
She felt invisible, her heart aching with the question of whether she’d ever find a loving family again.

The shelter’s loud and overwhelming environment took a toll on her. Midge longed for comfort and companionship, someone to hold her close and make her feel safe.
Thankfully, shelter worker Alex Hernandez refused to let Midge drown in loneliness. She often took her out for small adventures to help boost her mood.
A Life-Changing Surprise

One day, Hernandez picked Midge up for an outing and buckled her into the front seat.
As they drove away from the shelter, Midge let out a sigh of relief. The peace and quiet of the car was a welcome change from the constant barking she had grown used to. It was so calming, she drifted off to sleep.
Ella Hovsepian captured that touching moment on video and shared it on Instagram, instantly tugging at heartstrings.
“Your shelter caretaker takes you out of the kennel for a break from all the barking & all you want to do is sleep because shelter pups on average get 2 hrs of sleep every night,” Hovsepian wrote in the caption.
The video quickly went viral, moving viewers around the world. And with that attention came something incredible.
A loving family saw the video, and decided to give Midge the forever home she had been waiting for.

Midge soon settled into her new life, basking in the love and care of her humans.
From now on, she’ll enjoy soft, cozy beds and peaceful naps in a home filled with affection.
