Missouri Shelter Dog Overcomes His Past And Builds A Heartwarming Routine With His Foster Dad

Missouri Shelter Dog Overcomes His Past And Builds A Heartwarming Routine With His Foster Dad

Sometimes, behind a tough exterior and a muscular build lies a heart that just craves love.

That was certainly true for King Tut, a dog who spent almost 150 days in a Kansas City, Missouri shelter. Since the moment he was surrendered, all this misunderstood Pittie wanted was a friend.

What he didn’t know at the time was that his life was about to change in a big way.

King Tut’s Difficult Past

King Tut’s life before coming to the shelter was far from easy. From the moment he was brought to the KC Pet Project in Kansas City, he struggled with severe anxiety and stress.

All this sweet boy wanted was a safe, loving home where he could feel at ease, but life in the kennel only brought him constant worry.

Then, Chris, an experienced foster, walked into the shelter, and everything began to change.

“He had been there for over 150 days. I fell in love. He had such a wiggly little body. With him being so stressed in the kennel, I wanted to get him out as soon as possible,” Chris shared with The Dodo.

The connection between them was instant. From that moment on, King Tut had found the foster dad he had been waiting for.

After learning about Tut’s challenging past, Chris promised to care for him for as long as it took. He was ready to help King Tut overcome the trauma he had faced. Little did Chris know, he would also gain a devoted and loving companion in the process.

Building A New Routine Together

Once King Tut settled into his foster home, he quickly adapted to his new environment.

Beneath his strong and muscular frame was a loving dog who just wanted to give his foster dad all the affection he had to offer.

Chris was amazed at how cuddly King Tut was, despite his size. He often behaved like a lap dog, loving to curl up close to Chris. Soon, they began doing everything together and even developed a sweet morning routine.

“We started to do almost everything together. Even little things in my day, like getting ready… I view him as my partner in crime,” Chris explained.

No matter what Chris was doing, whether it was brushing his hair, reading, or getting ready for the day, King Tut was always there.

He loved being part of these simple daily activities, and his refusal to leave Chris’ side only made their bond stronger.

A Favorite Couch Companion

Of all the activities they shared, King Tut’s favorite was curling up on the couch for long naps, especially in Chris’ lap. Despite all the other fun moments they had together, being a couch potato was his ultimate joy.

But as the months passed, a bittersweet moment arrived. King Tut was ready to move on to another foster home, which eventually led him to his forever family.

“King Tut went to his new foster this afternoon. If you were at the shelter today and saw a grown man sobbing quietly to himself, that was me,” Chris wrote on Instagram.

Though saying goodbye was tough, Chris felt grateful knowing that Tut’s journey had brought him closer to the life he truly deserved.

“Just got an update from the adopter a few days ago and she said she is crazy in love with him. So he is living a very happy life,” Chris later shared.

Thanks to Chris’ love and patience, King Tut is now exactly where he belongs: in a warm, loving home surrounded by people who will never let him go.
