This German Shepherd dog was living on the streets near a medical clinic, all on his own. He was there for a long time, but no one knew exactly how he got there. One thing was for certain – he needed help.
So, when Hope For Paws, a non-profit rescue organization from Los Angeles, California, received a call about this poor dog, they immediately rushed over to help and rescue him.
Here’s how the rescue mission went…
Hope For Paws To The Rescue
The medical clinic was right next to an extremely busy road, so this rescue mission was supposed to be done very quickly and carefully.
The rescuers, Eldad Hagar and Lisa Arturo, from Hope For Paws, noticed immediately that although this pup was very scared, he kept on circling the hospital, almost as if he didn’t want to leave the place.
So, they checked with security guards and asked every patient in the clinic if it was someone’s dog. However, nobody seemed to recognize him.
Some rescue cases sadly remain a mystery. They decided to name him Mozart.
“I don’t know how long Mozart was out there, but he smelled like a dead animal, which is an indicator that he had been out for a long time,” Eldad Hagar, the founder of Hope For Paws, told The Dodo.
When they first tried to approach Mozart, he was terrified and kept running away from them.
Seeing how these two rescuers struggled to approach the dog, the security guards came out to help. Mozart was familiar with them and seemed to trust them a lot more.
“When they realized we were trying to help, they quickly moved to close the gates. Once they got him to go in, they closed the gate, and we had him where we wanted him,” Eldad told The Dodo.
Mozart was still very terrified and unsure of what was happening, so it wasn’t easy at all to capture him.
The Rescue Mission Was Thankfully Successful
After some time, Eldad managed to catch Mozart, and thankfully, he was a bit calmer then.
He wasn’t aggressive at all, but just very nervous and scared. He didn’t know that these people were there to help him.
Once he figured out that there was no reason to be scared, everything went smoother. “He relaxed, allowed me to touch him, and from that point, we became friends,” Eldad said.
Mozart was then transferred to the hospital, where he was checked by the vet and given a much-needed bath. He had no collar nor microchip, and he wasn’t neutered.
He received medical care and lots of love from everyone.
Mozart Was Finally Adopted
After being rescued, Mozart was transferred to Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California, based in Orange County.
The volunteers at this rescue worked a lot with him. They socialized him with other dogs and people, taught him how to be on a leash, and crate-and-potty trained him.
“He’s a very sweet and handsome boy who has the most beautiful eyes on the block!”, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue wrote on their Facebook.
He spent some time at the foster home, but they were still looking for him a forever home. After almost a year and a half, beautiful Mozart was finally adopted.
It took a while, but a year and a half later, he met the man and canine brother who would become his family. He’s now living the dream and can’t remember a time when he wasn’t spoiled, loved, and happy. ❤️
Mozart went to a beautiful home of a previous Coastal Rescue adopter. The adopter sadly experienced a loss and was looking for a companion who would get along with his current dog.
Mozart and the other dog seemed to get along really well, and so Mozart went to his new family where he is very happy and spoiled.
He is finally living the life he always wanted and deserved.
