It was a very cold day when this kind woman noticed a struggling pup lying on the ground next to a building in her neighborhood.
When she saw the condition this dog was in, she knew that something was wrong, so she immediately called rescuers for help.
They answered the call, packed their gear, and were on the scene in no time. When they saw how this sad pup looked, they were in great shock.
He Was Really Sick
After examining him, the rescuers realized they had to carefully transport him to the car. There was no telling what kind of physical trauma he had been through.
He was immediately taken into a clinic, where amazing veterinarians started a checkup. They were thorough and found that the pup was both dehydrated and malnourished.
There was some kind of an object inside of him, and he had strong stomach pain. The rescuers named the pup Arnie and promised him that everything would be okay. He was in good hands now.
The veterinarians soon determined that Arnie was suffering from a perineal hernia which was caused by prostatitis. This was not good for the pup, but nothing that the vets couldn’t handle.
They assumed that the foreign objects inside his body were something that he swallowed because he was just really hungry.
After the veterinarians were done with examinations and treatment, he was finally allowed to fall asleep and relax a little bit.
The rescuers noticed that he would calm down when they were in his presence. He already trusted them. He understood that his rescuers only wanted him to recover.
After a difficult surgery, Arnie was finally out of the woods, and his healing journey began. His rescuers thought it would be in his best interests to stay with them, so he was discharged.
A New Path For Arnie
He was taken home with one of the rescuers, who decided to care for him until he recovered. In just a short amount of time, his weight went up and his strength returned.
He was growing more confident with each day and the rescuer was so relieved to see Arnie’s smile. It looked like he was finally happy to be with someone so kind.
Even though he was still not at full strength, his rescuer helped him by ensuring he had a proper diet and that he went on walks pretty much daily.
After a little over a month, Arnie was almost unrecognizable. He had a shiny new coat and looked just beautiful.
He was happy and finally healthy. He also had some new friends, and the 3 of them would run around and play in the yard all the time.
It was really heartwarming to see them enjoy their time together. Although, now that Arnie was doing a lot better, his rescuers thought it was time for him to be placed on the adoption list.
There was really no surprise to anyone that he found a wonderful home pretty quickly and everyone was just so happy for him.
His new family loves him and they just get along so well. The bond they formed on the first day is very apparent and I am so glad that Arnie got the second chance he always deserved.
