Georgia Rescuers Tried To Cheer Up This Depressed Shelter Pup And Then Everything Changed One Day

When dogs spend a long time with their favorite humans, it can be hard for them to adapt to any kind of change. Most of the time, they don’t deal with it well.

In such situations, they will frantically search for their owners because they just want to feel safe again, but what happens when that is not possible?

There are many situations where the owners either decide or are forced to surrender their senior dogs because they can’t deal with them anymore.

But what about dogs who have spent their whole lives in crowded and closed environments?

Now, situations like this are just heartbreaking because it’s just not normal for any dog to spend so much time in an enclosed space, but the dog we will talk about today is just one of the examples.

Lenore’s Sudden Shift

Lenore’s life was filled with so much bad luck and heartbreak. She is a dog who has never known what it is like to live a normal life surrounded by people who love her.

She was 12 years old and it seemed like it was over for her. However, hope came in the form of rescuers from Georgia who decided to give her a new chance.

After the rescuers from Labrador Friends of the South took her into their organization, they hoped to see her make a wonderful transformation, but that did not happen.

Lenore just entered her kennel and then hid in a corner. The rescuers didn’t know how serious her condition was.

It was going to take a lot more rehabilitation to help her recover. At one point, her rescuers took her for a veterinary exam and she tried to run away.

She was so terrified of all these people. It was just heartbreaking. You could just tell that she had suffered abuse from her previous owners.

The staff did what they could to reassure her, but it was not going to be easy. The examination showed some concerning things.

The Healing Journey Is Slow

She had an ear infection, damaged teeth, and rough skin. This was all treatable, but it was not going to be a fast process.

Lenore would definitely need somebody to care for her while she is healing. She needed a good person who would be patient with her, because she was still extremely scared.

After searching for a bit, Georgia rescuers found just the one. Her new foster mom provided a safe space for Lenore where she could stay.

She would try to soothe her by playing classical music, and at first, her foster mom thought that it was not working, but little did she realize that the change was slowly coming.

First, she ate cheese from her foster mom’s hand, and then after a week, she made the next step and walked out of her crate.

At first, she wouldn’t even sleep with her head facing outward, and that has also changed now. She is even slowly starting to wag her tail.

The changes are happening and Lenore’s foster mom is hopeful that she will make a complete transformation very soon.

Until that happens, she will take things slowly, step by step. Everyone is hoping that she will get a chance to find a forever home with someone special, and I believe that it’s only a matter of time before that happens.
