Sometimes, the most remarkable moments happen when you’re not looking for them.
That’s exactly what unfolded when Becks Goodman, out for a routine drive, noticed something unusual near a sewer.
Curious, she pulled over, stepped out, and discovered a tiny pup who appeared to be in urgent need of help.
In an instant, Goodman found herself embarking on a rescue mission that would forever change this little dog’s life.
I’m Here Now, Sweet Pup

The poor pup’s condition was far from good. His fur was covered in severe matting, which caused him constant pain. Thankfully, he wasn’t starving, caring locals had been leaving food for him, enough to fill his small belly.
Hoping to comfort him, Goodman gently called to the dog, but he was too frightened to come out of the sewer. The only time he emerged was when he wanted to eat.
The frightened dog (later named Lambert) was clearly in a difficult spot, and Goodman needed backup. She reached out to fellow rescuers Mary Nakiso and Suzette Hall, confident they’d know how to handle the situation.
Hall quickly realized that setting a trap wouldn’t work. With food plentiful in the area, Lambert wasn’t driven by hunger, he was simply overwhelmed by fear.
Looking around, the rescue team noticed local workers nearby with tools, including a crowbar. With their assistance, they pried open the heavy, circular sewer lid, finally giving Lambert a way to escape.
Once freed, Lambert still seemed uneasy. His fear was clear and understandable, since no one knew how long he had been stuck down there.
Safe At Last

After giving him plenty of love and gentle reassurance, Suzette whisked Lambert to the vet for a thorough checkup.
That’s when the full extent of his suffering became clear. The matting on his coat was so severe that his fur had to be completely shaved off.
Though the grooming process was uncomfortable, Lambert endured it, somehow sensing it would make his life much better.

It’s uncertain how long Lambert lived this way or whether he’d ever experienced kindness before, but none of that mattered anymore. What truly counted was that he had been found in time.
With each passing day in his new home, the shadows of his past began to fade. Bit by bit, Lambert was learning that a little love can heal almost anything.
No longer hiding in the darkness of a sewer, he’s now surrounded by people who want nothing but the best for him.
His journey is a beautiful reminder that the smallest and most unexpected rescues can lead to the most incredible rewards.
