The lives some pups are forced to live are able to break even the coldest hearts.
Without knowing why, countless dogs are forced to go through months of cruelty and harshness, without hearing their favorite words – good boy.
This pup had such a life growing up. One day, when two rescuer were roaming the street, they found him tied to the house of his owner, living in a pile of trash,
Not being able to look at him in such a state, the rescuers went over to save him, but then they were met with an angry owner who wasn’t happy with their decision.
Rescue Mission
When they saw the rescuers, the owner and his men immediately surrounded them, not allowing them to take the pup anywhere.
The rescuers almost gave up, but when they looked down at the pup and saw flies swarming his eyes and body, they knew, then and there, that they couldn’t give up on him. So, after they slowly explained that they only wanted to help this sweet boy, the owner simply shrugged his soldiers and told them to ‘take him.’
As they were walking away, they heard the cruel owner calling the pup a lost cause. Instead of making them angry, this sentence only fueled the rescuers with the determination to make the dog feel like his old self again.
Start Of Something New
The second they got to the vet, the medical staff carefully examined the pup’s eyes because they were extremely red and swollen.
After they got the results from his full-body check up, the vets determined that the pup was severely anemic and had leishmaniasis – a parasitic disease which is spread by the bite of infected sand flies.
Luckily, the tests also came with good news: he pup wasn’t blind! He just had cloudy eyes as a result of the untreated leishmaniasis. This will soon be a thing of the past as he was immediately placed on all the necessary medications that guaranteed him getting better in no time.
Even though a hard recovery journey was up ahead, both the pup and his new hoomans were more than ready to take on the challenge.
With all the pills, injections, and yummy food, as well as a loving foster home, it only took the pup, now named Charlie, a couple of months to get better.
That was until his foster parent noticed his eyes becoming red and swollen again. After rushing him back to the vet, an ultrasound revealed he had high blood pressure and one of his veins popped.
The vets tried every single treatment they thought of to help this poor boy, but, sadly, that wasn’t enough. Charlie went completely blind.
But this sweet boy did not allow anything to come between him and his newfound happiness.
Charlie was determined to fight through the darkness and live a life like a regular dog. And he did, thanks to his rescuers. After adopting Charlie, they made sure to make his life as easy as possible.
Thanks to them, not only was he finally safe, but he was finally leading the life he had always dreamed of.
