New York Rescuers Were Stunned After Finding 40 Dogs Crammed In A Small Apartment

Every once in a while, I come across a dog story that just makes my blood boil. Sometimes, it just shows how careless and cruel some people can be.

There is no possible reason to explain why someone should hurt an innocent animal. They have done nothing wrong, but some people just don’t care.

What matters to them is that they get to make a profit out of them in any way that they can. The best example is this story that we will be talking about today.

Basically, a group of rescuers came across a small apartment where they found 40 dogs crammed inside, and it shocked them to the core.

How Could Someone Do This?

When the rescuers working for Animal Care Centers of New York City (ACC) came into the apartment where all the dogs were held, they were confused.

How could someone do this? It was one of the most extreme animal welfare cases they had ever seen. Many of these dogs had never seen daylight.

They were in this enclosed space for so long that they have no idea how to behave around other people. To make matters worse, some of them grew up in that environment.

After looking around the apartment, they found that some dogs were left in closets and cabinets because there was barely any room left for them.

Some of the dogs were Belgian Malinois while others were German Shepherds. All of this was just baffling.

I keep wondering how nobody figured out this was going on earlier. Regardless, the rescuers decided to put a stop to it.

The New York rescuers contacted their partners from ASPCA, and they mobilized as many people as they could to come and help.

They immediately got to work and started liberating these dogs, one by one. They were all carefully taken out of the apartment and back to the shelter.

A Collaborative Rescue

The collaborative effort made sure that all of these dogs were now saved, and the ASPCA will help the New York rescuers with medical and behavioral treatment for these dogs.

NYPD was also called to investigate this situation, as the perpetrators could face serious consequences for this.

Later, the rescuers started treating these dogs and were shocked by how sensitive they were. Considering they had never seen the outside of their apartment, everything confused them.

Basically anything they saw was completely new, and it scared them. They were prone to reacting strongly to new sounds.

But, there was a glimmer of hope because their rescuers could see that the spark in their eyes was still there, and they deserved a second chance.

After analyzing the situation carefully, the New York rescuers determined that a lot of the dogs would require long-term treatment, but they should be okay otherwise.

They also shared this news on social media because they hope the post will generate enough attention so that someone might take an interest in these dogs.

Other rescues have also reached out because they want to help ASPCA and ACC find new homes for these dogs.

I truly hope that everything works out great. After everything these dogs have been through, they really need a fresh start.
