For days, this poor soul wandered a bustling mountain road in Georgia, narrowly avoiding the constant stream of cars. With each step, he seemed to lose a little more hope. Deep inside, Bruno longed for kindness—but it never came.
Until one day, everything changed.
A Dog Who Had Given Up
Audray Luck, founder of Luck’s Rescue in North Georgia, spotted the massive pup right in the middle of the road. Horrified by the sight, she quickly pulled over and ran toward him.
But rescuing Bruno wasn’t going to be simple. The moment she tried to approach, he bolted into a nearby field, trembling with fear.
That’s when Stephanie, Audray’s friend and fellow rescuer, stepped in. Known for her “dog whispering” abilities, Stephanie managed to earn Bruno’s trust. Slowly, the giant boy calmed down enough to let them near.
Just when they thought the hardest part was over, their hearts broke all over again.
Instead of greeting them with relief, Bruno collapsed in the grass, too weak to even lift his head.
“Bruno had completely given up and as I started to examine him on the side of the road I knew he had a very rough life,” Audray wrote in an Instagram post.
A List Of Health Battles
The rescuers gently loaded him into their vehicle and rushed him to the vet. What they discovered left them speechless.
Bruno wasn’t just battling one problem—he was fighting many. He tested positive for heartworms and ehrlichiosis, and he was covered in ticks. To make matters worse, vets found two painful holes in his gums from a stick that had been lodged in his mouth for months.
But the most shocking revelation was yet to come.
X-rays revealed Bruno had been shot. His body carried over a hundred pellets, yet somehow, he had managed to survive.
Considering the extent of his injuries, it was nothing short of a miracle he was alive at all.
At Audray’s home, Bruno spent most of his time sleeping, finally able to rest without fear. For the first time in what seemed like forever, he felt safe.
Bruno Chooses Love
If one word could describe Bruno, it would be resilient. Despite everything he endured, the light in his eyes never truly faded. Beneath the scars and pain, Bruno’s heart was full of love.
“He knows suffering all too well and he chooses love every day,” Audray wrote in another post.
His gentle spirit didn’t go unnoticed. Soon, a woman reached out, expressing interest in giving him a forever home. Unsure how he’d react to her son, she decided to foster him first. Within only three days, she had her answer.
“They knew within three days that they were going to adopt him. And we’re just so happy that he never has to know suffering ever again,” Audray told Cuddle Buddies.
After everything he endured, Bruno finally found his family. He’ll continue treatment until he’s fully healthy, but the most important part of his journey is already complete—he will never be alone again.
