No matter how experienced you are or how many dogs you have saved earlier, nothing prepares you for the heartbreak of seeing a helpless dog in a desperate situation.
When Arturo Flores, a long-time rescuer from California, received a call about a dog struggling on a chain in an alley, he thought it would be a typical rescue. But upon arrival, he discovered two more tiny furballs in a cardboard box nearby.
Shocked by the harrowing sight, Flores immediately sprang into action, doing his best to help the pups in need.
Heartbreaking Conditions
It was late at night when Arturo arrived in the alley and spotted a helpless Poodle mix tied to a railing. But even more shocking, there were also two of her puppies next to her, while she lay defeated.
Arturo, a long-time rescue partner of Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, immediately rushed into action.
“In the middle of an alley, two tiny puppies were shoved into a box,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.
The Poodle mom was tied so tightly that it was almost impossible for her to move at all.
On top of everything, the entire family had fleas all over their bodies.
“Their mama was tied so tightly to a railing that you couldn’t even slip two fingers under the leash around her neck. She just laid there—covered in fleas, defeated, waiting and waiting for someone who was never coming back,” added Hall.
Arturo slowly scooped up the puppies and placed them in his car. Then, he gently worked to free the mom dog’s neck. Within minutes, she was safe and sound, together with her babies in Flores’ car.
The California rescuers transported the furry family to Camino Pet Hospital, where they were admitted by a kind team of vets.
After a thorough exam, a nice bath and flea-removal treatment, all three pups felt relieved.
They were finally treated with love and kindness after so long, and soon enough, this little family felt happier than ever.
Heartwarming Transformation
Thanks to a dedicated team of rescuers, the mom dog, later named Infinity and Beyond, and her two pups, Axel and Buzz, found the perfect foster home.
“She and her puppies, Axel and Buzz his – Toy Story–themed are thriving. Just look at her now—so beautiful, so strong, and finally free from the pain of her past,” Hall wrote in another post.
With proper care, nutrition, and lots of TLC, the dogs made incredible progress. They transformed into brand-new pups and showcased their playful personalities. As it turned out, all three of them were social butterflies with no mean bones in their bodies.
What started as an abandonment case turned into a wonderful story of new beginnings, all thanks to the kind people who decided not to give up on them.
“From abandoned and forgotten to cherished and safe — this is the power of rescue, the power of second chances. This little family’s story is proof that love heals,” Hall concluded on Facebook.
So far, the mom dog and her puppies have already adjusted to life in a nice home. When the time is right, all three of them will be available for adoption.
