California Rescuers Find Abandoned Mother Dog Tied To A Tree Struggling Beside Her Babies

Despite countless warnings from animal rescues, more and more dogs end up abandoned on the streets.

The most heartbreaking cases are the ones where dogs are tied up, unable to escape danger or fend for themselves.

That was the cruel fate of Angel, a one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky and German Shepherd mix. She was discovered tied to a tree in Iglesia Park in Aliso Viejo, California, with her seven tiny puppies helpless at her side.

Fortunately, help arrived before it was too late.

Rescuers Step In At The Right Time

After their rescue from the park in Aliso Viejo, the mother dog and her pups were brought to Mission Viejo Animal Services Center

Nobody knew exactly how long they had been there or how they ended up tied to that spot.

Although all of them were alive and unharmed, the City of Mission Viejo, CA – Local Government wrote in their Facebook post that no food, water, or shelter had been left for them. The fact that they were still safe meant rescuers had found them just in time.

The outcome could have been very different. Coyotes were active in the area, as it was mating season, and they often roamed near the park. Luckily, the family was spared.

Staff at the center searched for a microchip but found none. Still, Angel showed no signs of abuse, and her puppies appeared healthy.

Everyone was touched by her gentle nature.

“She rolls over in submission when getting pets and will crawl up into your lap for attention,” Kelly Tokarski, the public information specialist for the City of Mission Viejo, said according to the Mission Viejo website. “Simply put, Angel is a great dog.  She just needs a wonderful home to give her the love she deserves.”

Before they could start over, Angel and her puppies were given baths and vaccines. The Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) also supplied all of their medical needs.

Kind people came together to make sure this little family had the best chance at a brighter future.

A Fresh Start For A Brave Mom

Finding homes for the puppies didn’t take long, and each one was adopted quickly. But Angel, still a young dog herself, had to wait a little longer.

This time, social media helped turn her story around.

“Just 24 hours after Angel’s story aired on KNBC Channel 4 and went viral via the City’s social media, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center experienced a surge in adoption applications for this sweet Siberian husky-German shepherd mix,” City of Mission Viejo, CA – Local Government wrote in their newest Facebook post

Finally, a family from Murrieta, California, welcomed Angel into their home. Having recently lost multiple pets, they saw her as the healing presence their hearts needed.

In the end, Angel and all seven of her puppies found the homes they deserved. Their story is proof that even a single act of kindness can change a life forever.

This time, it was truly a happily ever after.
