Coming across a stray dog wandering the streets is, sadly, something far too common these days. But what’s even more gut-wrenching is seeing a young, stunning white puppy not only homeless, but also tied to a pole, completely exposed and helpless.
This was the heartbreaking reality for a six-month-old white Husky who was found in Santa Monica, California. Tethered to a fence by the roadside, this poor pup was also subjected to daily harassment from local homeless individuals.
And yet, through all of it, the little Husky never lost his gentle smile. Despite everything, he kept hoping that someone kind would come and change his fate.
A Long-Awaited Rescue
That day finally arrived when a local rescuer happened to walk past the very spot where this sweet pup had endured so much.
The sight stopped her in her tracks—a gorgeous white Husky, tied to a pole and left out in the open.
Wasting no time, she sprang into action and contacted the compassionate team at Love Leo Rescue. Once Buckley, as they later named him, was in their care, everyone was struck by his upbeat spirit and resilience, especially considering what he’d been through.
“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” Love Leo Rescue director Sasha Abelson told The Dodo. “He is well balanced and loving and didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”
As the rescue team showered Buckley with affection and attention, he responded with boundless love and infectious energy that lifted everyone’s spirits at the center.
Fortunately, Buckley’s stay at the shelter didn’t last long—he soon found a loving foster home, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Starting Fresh With A Foster Family
When Angela, a kind woman who had heard about Buckley’s story, learned of his situation, she felt compelled to step up. She welcomed him into her home, and the bond between them formed almost instantly.
This time, Buckley had every reason to smile. After surviving on the streets and enduring cruelty, he was now surrounded by love, safety, and care.
“Buckley is a typical, happy-go-lucky husky,” Abelson said. “He loves playing with his dog friends and learning new skills. He loves going for hikes and also cuddling near his humans. He is just a perfect family dog.”
What Buckley didn’t know was that he was also helping Angela in ways she didn’t expect. His presence brought healing into her life, too.
“Buckley is such a great dog! He is our foster who has helped me in my recovery with PTSD. He needs to be active and needs routine…which turns out is part of what I need too,” Angela wrote on Instagram.
Although he’s still waiting for his forever family, Buckley is thriving in foster care. He continues to enjoy every day to the fullest, his heart filled with hope.
“Buckley would love to go into a home that is active and preferably a home with another playful, balanced dog,” Abelson said. “We think a dog brother or sister would be wonderful for him.”
With a spirit as bright as his snowy coat, Buckley is sure to find a permanent home very soon—one that will finally give him the happy ending he so deserves.
