It can be incredibly tough for any pup who was abandoned to adjust to this new and difficult life. All of the sudden, the pup has to fend for himself and scavenge for food everywhere.
This can be especially hard when there are other stray or even wild animals who are also looking to do the same thing.
I just can’t imagine why someone would do this to a dog when surrendering them to a shelter is also an option that takes virtually no time and it could change the dog’s entire life.
When the rescuers from California were notified about a small dog who was abandoned in coyote territory, they were completely speechless, so they rushed to his aid.
He Was Not Attacked

After being dumped under a freeway, this adorable pup had to spend two weeks on his own in an area that was coyote territory.
Fortunately for him, there was a big gate between them, and the coyotes couldn’t get to the dog unless they got really clever.
Suzette Hall’s friend, Scanlan M. Martha, first came to know about this dog because the place where he was dumped was actually a popular spot for abandoning dogs.
This was just shocking because these people are basically giving them no chance at survival. How are they going to survive on a highway next to an area where coyotes live?

Luckily, there were homeless people in that area who gave some food to the pup. Even though he was completely terrified of humans, he wouldn’t resist free food.
At this point, it was clear to Hall that she needed to react quickly. Who knows what would have happened if she hadn’t?
She gathered her gear and drove to the location as fast as possible. By the time she arrived, it was already night time, so it was not going to be easy to find this pup.
She Fell Asleep After Eating

After looking around for a little bit, she actually got lucky and was able to locate him pretty quickly. She was just heartbroken after realizing how he looked.
Hall could tell that he was scared, but she also knew that he was really hungry, so the obvious solution to this dilemma was food.
She tried to give him some and he was not going to say no. The food was placed around a humane trap, and the small dog just walked right in.
After eating, he just fell asleep. It’s like he knew at that moment that he was safe and didn’t have to worry about anything anymore.

Now that the dog was sleeping, Hall just took him back to the shelter in California and helped him get comfortable.
The only thing he needed now was some love, food, and medication because his recovery would take a while.
Everyone is hopeful that the stay at the shelter is only temporary and that Hall will actually find a forever home for this pup in no time.
