It’s always the right time to save a dog!
That’s the belief many kind-hearted rescuers carry with them for life. Even when they’re not working, these devoted people never ignore an animal in need, and that’s what makes them extraordinary.
So, when several people noticed a desperate dog trapped in a city sewer, they acted quickly. Realizing he was in danger and needed help, they called the one person they knew could handle it.
Answering The Call

Randy Grim, the founder of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, has devoted his life to helping dogs in trouble. When he learned about a senior dog stuck in a sewer, he wasted no time rushing to the scene.
The poor dog was terrified, but Randy knew exactly how to approach him. He carefully climbed down, got close, and offered the gentlest touch.
Then he lifted the frightened pup into his arms, holding him close so he could feel safe. To everyone’s relief, the dog began to relax.

In that dark, scary place, the two shared a moving moment. Even though the old dog was still rattled and unsure, it was clear that he understood Randy had come to rescue him.
After spending a few quiet minutes comforting him, Randy lifted the dog up and out of the sewer. Relief spread across everyone’s faces as the pup finally stepped into the daylight once again.
And then something even more heartwarming took place.

Just moments after being saved, the senior dog turned back to Randy for extra cuddles, almost as if he was trying to say thank you. Everyone around was touched to see him safe, and deeply grateful for Randy’s quick response and his gentle care.
The entire rescue was captured on video, which would soon play an important role in locating the pup’s family.
Back Where He Belongs

Once he received care and an exam at the Stray Rescue facility, the team shared his story online, hoping someone would recognize him.
“Please share for he is an old guy without a chip,” SRSL wrote.
The very next day, something amazing happened.

The dog had been missing, leaving his family heartbroken. When his dad saw the rescue story on Fox2Now, he immediately reached out to the shelter.
“His dad saw him on the Fox2Now story and came and got him today! He said they had been crying and were so worried…Here they are reunited,” the SRSL team wrote on Facebook.
Watching them reunite was a moment filled with pure joy. After all the stress and fear, the sweet senior dog was finally back in the arms of the person who loved him most.
We can only hope that they will never have to be apart again.
