Being forced to part from the ones you love is never easy. Especially when you know you might be saying goodbye for good.
When Fresa and her pup sibling, Flora, were pulled from cruel abandonment, this sweet tan girl never imagined she would one day see her sister walk away. But, as it often happens, life had a different plan.
After only a few days, a kind family arrived at the shelter’s door. They came to adopt Flor, leaving Fresa completely confused and brokenhearted.
They Were Each Other’s Whole World
Before they landed at Pet Rescue Solutions, from South El Monte, California, Flor and Fresa had their share of storms. Their former owner heartlessly left them in a paper bag, denying them any real chance.
Alone, terrified, and far too weak to fend for themselves, it is hard to imagine the fear they felt. Trapped in that tiny bag, they must have been gasping for air.
Luckily, after a while, a compassionate biker noticed the bag moving and immediately stopped. Saving Flor and Fresa was no longer a choice, it was a matter of kindness. He scooped them up and rushed them to the rescue without hesitation.
“A Good Samaritan on a bike spotted something wiggling in a bag and rescued these two precious girls. Meet Flor, our brindle little puppy, and Fresa, our tan sweetheart,” PRS wrote in an Instagram post.
Flor and Fresa had never really known life apart. In truth, all they had in this world was each other.
Bit by bit, they began to come out of their shells. Soon, they were befriending everyone, even the big dogs. It was beyond adorable watching these tiny pups climb onto their giant siblings, searching for a cuddle.
Out of nowhere, things felt perfect. Then, Flor got the bittersweet news.
A Painful Farewell
Flor and her soon-to-be family could not have been more excited about this huge change. After everything she had endured, the day finally came. The people. The home. The family this brindle girl had never known. The life she had been waiting for.
“We are thrilled to share the heartwarming news that FLOR one of our rescued puppies, who was found with her sibling in a paper bag, has found her forever home,” the rescue wrote on Instagram.
There was only one loose end, her sister, Fresa.
While Flor greeted her adopters, Fresa sat quietly in the stroller, the same one where she and her sister shared so many little adventures. Questions raced through her mind.
Who are these people? Why are they holding my sister in their hands?
Wait, are they leaving?
Then, it hit her. Her beloved sibling was going away, and not just for a day. The two were parting for good, leaving an empty space in each other’s lives.
Fresa was devastated. She could not stand the thought of Flor missing from the shelter, since she was practically her other half. She spent days mending her little heart, but thankfully, she was no longer alone.
She had a whole crew of doggy friends to comfort her. And the kindest caregivers.
Even though she and Flor closed one chapter, there is no doubt Fresa will find her own loving home. She just needs the right moment.
