Rescue Puppy Keeps Getting Returned Until He Meets The Pawfect Dad

No matter what breed they are – we all love puppies! These cute little furballs provide us with so much cuteness and endless entertainment. Unfortunately, many of them don’t get lucky enough to find a forever home on the first try.

Abe and Addie, two canine siblings, were rescued as strays and sent to forever homes. Even though Addie found her perfect family, her brother, Abe, got returned back to the shelter.

Lonely and desperate, Abe had a pair of the saddest eyes, wondering: When would it be my turn to find a loving family?

And, then it happened!

The Ideal Match

John Handem Piette, who worked at The Dodo as the senior video editor at the time, first spotted Abe when he got returned from his first home. John’s colleague, Jordan, was Abe’s foster, and he brought him to the office one day.

“After Abe was returned, that’s when I really noticed him. There was something about his eyes,” says John.

He had the sweetest, saddest eyes in the world. Even though he had a wonderful way with everyone at the office, Abe’s eyes told a different story. He was evidently desperate to find a loving home.

After some time, Abe found another home. Jordan and The Dodo crew were so happy that this boi finally got a second chance at life. But, as it turned out, the second home was a fail, too.

When John saw Jordan’s post about Abe being returned from his second home, he decided to intervene. He wanted to see why this adorable dog was getting returned over and over again. So, he took him in on a foster basis.

“Whatever issues he had, I was going to work through them with him,” he said.

John and his girlfriend brought Abe to their apartment in Brooklyn, New York, and gave him the cutest new name Bean! Shortly after, Bean’s anxiety kicked in. For some reason, he had destructive behavior, and he pretty much devastated everything he found.

But, John and Christina were patient. They knew there was a serious set of issues behind Bean’s destructiveness, and they decided to take things slowly.

Weeks into his new life, Bean started to come out of his shell. He adapted to his new apartment and embraced his new pawrents with paws wide open. And, then Covid hit. The trio had to leave town and move to John’s parents’ house in New Hampshire.

The couple didn’t know how Bean would react to this new change, but in just a few short weeks – the amazing happened! Bean blossomed into a brand-new dog in a spacious yard and next to his two new feline siblings – Tigger and Simba.

Even though Simba needed some time to acclimate to his playful nature, Tigger and Bean immediately became best friends.

He really loved everything about his new, temporary home. He enjoyed playing in the snow, and then swimming in the pool with his dad in the summer. His true character completely came out, making Bean the center of attention!

Living The Best Life

Today, Bean and his family live the best life back in Brooklyn. The Covid days are behind him, but he still occasionally visits his grandparents and his cat friends.

In the meantime, Bean makes sure to make every day a brand-new adventure! He’s full of personality and has the most cheerful soul. After all he has been through in the past, Bean has truly transformed into a wonderful companion.

“Bean taught us all so much already. That even when times are tough and things don’t work out the first time, or the second time, that eventually things work out. And I’m so glad we chose each other,” says John.

He spends every day making lifetime memories with his amazing owners. They take walks together, travel together, meet new people, and have a blast every time they go out

John and Christina are very grateful for having their furry buddy around. This amazing pup showed them that even in what can only be called the worst of times, something good can come out of it. And, for them, that good was Bean!
