Sadly, there aren’t many dogs in this world who have not been traumatized by something in their lives. It is simply because our furry friends understand only love, but they often get cruelty in return.
That is why many of them have heartbreaking reactions to some ordinary things, even when they are out of danger, i.e., in a warm home surrounded by a loving family.
One good soul saw this best after saving a dog from the street who was so traumatized that she was even afraid of water.
Traumatic Life
Aino Korhonen and her boyfriend kept meeting stray dogs on the road while passing through the city. It was breaking their hearts, and at one point, they started thinking about putting a smile back on at least one of them.
One day, they came upon a terrified dog on the side of the road next to a rice field. She was sick and generally in terrible condition, so they decided to take her to the vet.
In the veterinary clinic, they found out that this poor furry being was three months old, and she also had blood parasites, fleas, worms, and bite marks on her body. They were aware that she had a rough life, but they did not know more information about her.
Yet, after they decided to give her a forever home, they started seeing signs of deep trauma from her past life. For example, Twinkie, as they named her, was afraid of drivers with helmets and rice field workers with hats and didn’t like some specific-looking locals.
All this pointed to the fact that her life was anything but happy.
Her Biggest Fear
Among all of Twinkie’s traumas and fears, the biggest one was that of water. This fear of hers used to go so far that she was even afraid to set foot on the beach.
Aino believes it’s because she was dumped in the river before she and her boyfriend found her next to the road. This fear of water was so severe that Aino decided to share the video about it on her TikTok profile, @ainoiknoww.
@ainoiknoww Seeing her scared makes me so sad 😭💔 please never throw your dog away like garbage! 🥺 #balidog #rescuedog #balidogslover ♬ original sound – .ᐟ ✴︎ ⠀࣪˖ – ᐢ. .ᐢ
Today, about two years after Twinkie became a full-fledged member of the family, she still sometimes has reaction to water as she barks non-stop if the water in the pool is moving.
However, in general, things have improved and Twinkie is now a happy dog who enjoys every moment of her new life.
Yet, she is still a living example of what abandonment and cruelty can do to these helpless creatures.
That’s why we will end this story with Aino’s plead from the video caption: “Seeing her scared makes me so sad 😭💔 please never throw your dog away like garbage!”
