New Jersey Pup’s Summer Fun Takes A Strange Turn When Her Fur Turns Green

Dogs are naturally full of energy and are known for loving fun, often more than anyone anticipates.

They run, explore, and socialize throughout the day, and even when tired, they continue playing because they do not want to miss any moment.

Occasionally, a pup becomes so absorbed in one activity that nothing else draws their attention.

This New Jersey owner was surprised when she noticed her dog’s fur gradually turning green, and the reason soon became clear.

Summer Pool Fun

It was an ordinary summer day for Tori, who was enjoying the warm weather while her dog swam energetically in the pool.

Tori was relaxing at the poolside, but her pup was completely focused on swimming when, unexpectedly, the dog came over to her.

That’s when Tori noticed something unusual: the dog’s fur was turning slightly green.

The explanation was simple: the pool. Copper sulfate, which is used as an algicide to treat pool water, reacts in a strange way when it comes into contact with dog fur.

It is important to understand that this reaction occurs only when copper levels in the pool are too high, which explained why her dog’s fur had changed color.

Given that the dog spent hours in the pool almost every day, it was unsurprising that the green tint appeared.

Tori tried to advise her dog not to swim further, noting it might not be safe, but the dog protested, clearly unwilling to leave the water.

Amused and intrigued, Tori recorded several videos of her dog enjoying the pool, including the moments where the green tint was visible, and posted them to her TikTok channel.

Viewers quickly responded with humorous and concerned comments. One person commented: “This is actually really genuinely dangerous cos if she goes in the pool too much all day everyday she WILL turn green and then she could try defying gravity

Such an interesting side effect of spending too much time in the pool. I think my dogs have to try this sometime soon.

Another person said: “Just the thought of not getting in the pool gave that poor baby a panic attack.

The video showed the dog’s sheer delight alongside the unusual green fur, making the scene both amusing and slightly alarming.

Lastly, somebody commented: “Use ketchup. I used to be a competitive swimmer and the blond parts of my hair would turn bright green. Soaking the hair with ketchup removes most of the colour.

It’s certainly an unusual remedy. I am not sure it will completely work, but it could be worth a shot. After all, what harm can ketchup do?

Regardless, this brief clip racked up millions of views, and it is heartening to see so many people suggesting ways for the dog to return to enjoying her pool time.
