One of the worst things a puppy can experience is being taken away from his mama at an early age.
Sadly, this is a harsh reality for many dogs out there. Just when they need love and warmth the most, someone or something rips them away. I can’t even imagine the amount of heartbreak they feel in those moments.
Recently, Suzette Hall, a long-time California rescuer, stumbled upon one such case. After saving a mom dog and her two pups, Hall thought that was about it. But only a month later, she received a heartbreaking update about another pup.
Abandoned Twice

Before Hall and her team arrived in the alley to scoop up the mama dog and her two puppies, they didn’t know someone had already taken the third one.
“We had no idea she had another baby. Someone had taken that last puppy from her in the alley before we even got there,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.
After a month, the California rescuer received a message revealing that the person who had taken the puppy no longer wanted to keep him. But instead of reuniting him with his family, they had taken him straight to the shelter.
Hall wasted no time. She instantly rushed to the shelter to pull him out, and what she found broke her heart.
The puppy, who had already been abandoned twice by now, was scared of everything. He trembled in his tiny kennel, trying to hide from the outside world and the loud noises.
“When I got there today, he was trembling — shaking so badly in his kennel, his eyes filled with fear and confusion. He had already lost his mama and been abandoned twice. I can’t even imagine what he must have been thinking,” Hall added.

Luckily, after some kind words and a lot of reassurance, both Hall and the pup left the shelter and headed off to a new beginning.
No More Being Left Behind

For the first time in what seemed like forever, the puppy felt comfortable.
He cozily curled up in his rescuer’s arms, enjoying some cuddles, and then fell deep asleep on the passenger seat. To see him so carefree after such terrible neglect in the past was a rewarding moment for Hall.
“He’s the sweetest, most loving little cuddle bug — gentle, grateful, pure. Today was the start of his new life. No more chains. No more fear. No more being thrown away,” Hall concluded in the post.
The pup’s next stop will be a veterinary clinic, where he will be examined for potential health issues. After receiving a clean bill of health, he will be transferred to a nice foster home, where he will learn all about being a dog.
Hopefully, his next life chapter will be filled with joy, happiness, playtime, and endless love…just like he deserves.
