We all need a companion. When life gets hard or we need support, it’s comforting to have someone nearby to remind us that everything will be okay.
Dogs are no different. Even with the love of their humans, some pups cannot take steps forward without a furry friend encouraging them.
The bond between dogs can create real-life miracles, and Little’s story is a perfect example.
A Puppy’s Life Hung In The Balance

Little’s beginning was full of hardship. She was born in an overcrowded Los Angeles, California shelter with her littermates, and all the puppies, including her, were slated for euthanasia.
Through no fault of her own, Little’s life was nearly cut short. Then came her first miracle. She was rescued by a local organization and placed in a foster home with Kels McDonough, an experienced foster caregiver.

Upon arriving at her temporary California home, Little was withdrawn. She suffered from Swimmer Puppy Syndrome, which left her muscles underdeveloped and her legs splayed behind her body.
Rather than exploring her new life, Little remained limp and lethargic, finding comfort only in Kels’ arms and wanting to be held constantly.
Kels didn’t mind. She understood that Little would open up in her own time.
Weeks later, that moment finally arrived.

Kels’ other dogs, Nash and Lou, welcomed Little gently into their pack. She gradually shifted from relying solely on her human caregiver to bonding with her canine brothers, especially Nash.
Little began to rest on Nash, play with him, and slowly engage in activities she never could before. Being a disabled puppy, her progress amazed everyone.
The Power Of Friendship

All Little needed was a friend. She found comfort beside Nash and began to blossom into a lively, active puppy.
Nash, who had been a shut-down dog himself, seemed to understand her struggles. His presence encouraged Little, ultimately helping her reach a miraculous milestone.

Months after joining Kels’ home, Little walked independently for the first time. She ran, played, and explored the yard alongside Nash and Lou as if her condition had never existed.
Her big brother’s support pushed her to discover her cheerful puppy spirit, and now she even outruns Nash.
“She’s just gotten stronger and stronger and she’s faster than Nash now,” Kels told GeoBeats Animals.

Seeing Little fully enjoy her life has been immensely rewarding.
“When I first got her, I was prepared like she may never walk normal and that’s totally okay, but to see how far she’s come is really a miracle,” Kels added.
Little, who began as a temporary foster, is now a permanent part of the family. She found hope and a full life alongside her canine siblings and looks forward to many adventures ahead.
