I am pretty sure every pet parent’s worst fear is a missing furry family member.
When that nightmare hits, all you do is wonder where they are, whether they are safe, and if they will ever make it home.
Sadly, some hoomans ignore all of this and act as if animals do not feel pain or fear at all.
A Devastating Discovery

Late one night, an employee at an Omaha accounting firm heard strange noises coming from a dumpster and assumed it was a raccoon.
Because it was dark, she did not feel comfortable lifting the lid, so she hoped someone else might check it and let the stray critter out.
When she returned the next morning and checked in daylight, she realized it was not a raccoon at all. Inside was a terrified puppy, his small body swaddled in duct tape.

His entire head had been wrapped, his back legs bound together. His tail was taped tight as well, and bits of food and other debris were stuck all through his fur.
The shaken hoomans called Animal Control right away and reported exactly what they had found, determined to get the little one help as fast as possible.
“I have never seen anything like it,” said Kevin W, one of the staff members who made the discovery.
The poor guy was immediately rushed to the Nebraska Humane Society where a team stood ready to help him and undo the damage.
Safe At Last
As soon as he arrived at the Nebraska shelter, veterinarians sedated him so the team could remove every strip of tape and grime.
The adhesive was so strong that staff had to shave portions of his coat in order to get it all off, taking their time to free his skin.

Once freed, the puppy lit up, greeting his rescuers with wiggly hugs and grateful kisses, soaking up attention after the ordeal.
A full medical exam followed, and aside from some mild skin irritation, he was declared healthy by the team.
Thankfully, a microchip was in place, which let the Nebraska Humane Society learn his name, Leo, and pull the contact information for his family so they could be called right away.

It turned out Leo had been reported missing by his mum the moment he vanished, and she was overjoyed to hold him again. She could not make sense of why anyone would do this to him.
“He’s the sweetest dog! I don’t know why anyone would do this,” said Erin, Leo’s mum.
Now Leo and his people can breathe again, because he is safe in his home and will not have to face anything like that ever again. Their relief was immediate.
Investigation Underway
Unfortunately, the dumpster where Leo was dumped sits in an area without cameras.
For that reason, the Nebraska Humane Society is asking anyone with information about this case to contact the Nebraska Humane Society immediately.
The humane society is offering a $1,000 reward reward for tips that lead to an arrest connected to Leo’s case, and they hope someone will come forward.
