Hearts Break As Florida Puppy Considered For Euthanasia Faces Its Worst Fears

Hearts Break As Florida Puppy Considered For Euthanasia Faces Its Worst Fears

Here’s the thing: even when you think your dog doesn’t know what’s about to happen, they might surprise you. Our four-legged friends are highly intuitive beings who anticipate and feel, often to an unbelievable extent.

Nylo, a nine-month-old puppy living at a Florida shelter, exemplifies this perfectly.

Recently, a volunteer captured a video of him hiding in his small kennel, as if trying to be invisible to everyone. The reason? Nylo was considered for euthanasia, and the staff suspected he knew it.

So heartbreaking!

He Definitely Knows

As a young puppy eager to learn new things, Nylo couldn’t be more enthusiastic about life. Sadly, without proper guidance and affected by the shelter environment, this little boi couldn’t do much.

Instead, Nylo showcased reactive behavior, leading to the worst scenario possible: the shelter considered him for euthanasia.

Nylo, who normally does great outside the shelter, suddenly became depressed. In a way, he almost knew what awaited, so instead of greeting people by the kennel door, Nylo hid underneath his bed, trying to be invisible.

This heartbreaking scene caught the attention of the volunteer @a.girl.and.her.doggos at Miami-Dade County Animal Services, who shared Nylo’s video on TikTok.

“Every day, Nylo #A2641095 hides under his bed at the Miami-Dade County shelter. He’s being considered for euthanasia.. and we suspect he knows it,” the volunteer wrote in the video.

Update: Nylo is officially out of the shelter and heading to a foster’s home!! 🥳 Every day, Nylo #A2641095 hides under his bed at the Miami-Dade County shelter. He’s being considered for euthanasia.. and we suspect he knows it. Nylo is just a 9-month-old puppy. He’s playful, sweet, and the happiest boy every time he’s outside. He loves playing with other dogs and humans, and he’s even been used as a helper dog for playgroups at the shelter. He’s being considered for euthanasia due to some nippy behavior, just typical puppy stuff. Like any young dog, he needs guidance and structure, but that’s impossible to get in an overcrowded shelter. Please help Nylo get adopted so he doesn’t have to grow up in a kennel.. or lose his life just because a human gave up on him. ** Disclaimer: I am a volunteer and while I do not handle adoptions, please feel free to reach out for more information** Interested in FOSTERING? Nylo’s heartbreaking video soon garnered thousands of views, with people expressing their solidarity with his situation.

While definitely not an aggressive or misbehaved dog, Nylo was facing the inevitable – all through no fault of his own.

A Turn Of Events We Were All Hoping For

Thanks to the viral video @a.girl.and.her.doggos took, Nylo’s story touched many hearts. His supporters couldn’t make peace with the fact that he had to say his final goodbye without living the life he truly deserved.

This led to an unbelievable turn of events. In only a matter of days, Nylo found a beautiful foster home with the people who decided to give him a chance. Needless to say, this euthanasia-listed pup blossomed right off the bat!

Nylo, once a shut-down dog hiding in a kennel, transformed into a social butterfly. He loved meeting new people and dogs, and picked up new skills in no time.

“He’s great with dogs, kids, very well-behaved in public, and so eager to learn. He walks so well by your side and constantly looks to you for direction, making sure to obey. He learned sit and mastered down within minutes,” his foster says in an Instagram post.

He loves being in a pool, playing with other pups, and just being a part of the family.

Ultimately, Nylo would do great in an active, experienced family that is ready to provide him with guidance and lots of entertainment.

“Nylo just wants a safe home where he can let his puppy energy out, with a family that will provide him the guidance that any puppy would need,” Nylo’s foster concludes.

Hopefully, his perfect match is near!
