Every adopted dog requires time to adapt to their new home. Some do it faster than others. In fact, you’ll have pups who just get used to their new owners instantly.
They are just happy to be with someone no matter where they are. But, there is also the other side to this. Some dogs struggle in many ways and just need more time.
None of this would be a problem if all the owners had patience and understanding for their new dogs, but that is not always the case.
A lot of them will just abandon them if things aren’t going well even in the first few days. This pup from Texas went through the exact same thing and the reason is shocking.
She Was Sent Back After 36 Hours

When Wilbur was first taken to a Dallas Dog rescue organization in Texas, he came there with his sister. The rescuers assumed that they were strays and they had several health problems.
One of those was ringworm. Because of this, they had to be isolated from other dogs and treated and this limited their exposure to potential adopters.
Wilbur was first adopted after four months in the shelter. Everything seemed to be going well and the rescuers were hopeful for his future, but that quickly changed.

Wilbur was sent back to the Texas shelter after only three days. The reason? He wasn’t bonding quickly enough with the family.
Yeah, that’s the actual reason. They didn’t even try to be patient or reasonable with him. They abandoned him immediately because he was not behaving how they wanted him to.
At first, the rescuers thought that not all hope was lost. They could still find a new family for him. It will just take a little bit of time.
They Just Need Some More Time

On his third adoption, he was taken in by a family only to be returned thirty-six hours later because Wilbur was barking at the woman’s husband.
This was a problem, but it was one that could be solved and his owners didn’t even give him a chance.
After being returned again, Wilbur is now undergoing training and is enjoying his time hanging out and playing with other dogs.
The rescuers are happy to see that he responds so well to other pups because it helps his chances with the adoption.

After the last few incidents, the Texas rescuers will wait until the right person comes along to adopt him. His anxiety is only getting worse after being abandoned three times and the rescuers don’t want to repeat that.
His sibling has also been dealing with the same problem and was returned to the shelter after being adopted.
It’s clear that these sweet puppies just need a little time and patience from their owners and they will thrive. The rescuers will do their best to find people like that for them.
