For all rescuers, their top priority is to find a forever home for all the dogs in a shelter as soon as possible.
However, that is just not always possible. Sometimes, a pup will get overlooked all the time, and no matter how much rescuers try, they just can’t find a new family for the dog.
Such was the case for Ben. Ever since he was a young puppy, Ben has never known how it feels to be in a warm home with someone special.
He was a pup who was transferred to the Forever Home Dog Rescue in Washington in 2016. His rescuers were hoping to find him a home quickly, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
Ben’s Positive Attitude

No matter how many times the rescuers tried to find help for Ben, they were unsuccessful, which meant that he spent 10 full years in the care of his rescuers.
However, none of that discouraged him. He was still a high-spirited pup who loved spending time with his rescuers and other dogs.
Most people just overlook him. They didn’t even want to consider giving him a chance. However, even though he is a very sweet pup, he still feels stressed sometimes.

His rescuers realized that they couldn’t keep any toys in his kennel because he would destroy them due to his anxiety.
They tried giving him blankets, but he would rip them all up. Other rescuers were surprised to see just how Ben reacted to seeing the staff.
In many ways, they are all he’s ever known, so to him, they are the closest family he has. Because he is struggling from kennel stress, rescuers try to take him for walks whenever they can.
It’s not enough, but they just don’t have the time. He is always happy to be around other people, but when it’s time to go back to his kennel, he gets anxious.
There Is Still Hope

It’s kind of heartbreaking to see just how excited he gets to go out all the time only to know that his rescuers are not able to do this for him every day.
He definitely deserves a good family who will provide him with this. Ben didn’t deserve to be overlooked this long as he is basically a senior dog at this point.
Now that he’s older, his rescuers have noticed that he doesn’t like to go on very long walks. Now, he prefers to spend more time with his favorite people, so long as he is outside the kennel.
That’s all that matters to him. His only family always tries to be there for him as much as they can, but he needs a better solution than this.

He is 10 years old and has never been home. He deserves to know how it feels to be with someone special who will care for him for the rest of his life.
Other rescuers have thought about fostering him, but the problem is that they all have dogs and cats, so it may not be financially viable for them.
For now, Ben will just have to spend some more time at the shelter in Washington, but his rescuers are hopeful that they will raise enough awareness about his situation so someone might come and adopt him. He is a very good pup and he deserves all the best.
