It’s really sad when the most cheerful and outgoing dogs struggle to find a home, and somehow this happens more often than people think.
I don’t understand what it is about them that makes people not want to adopt. Is it their high energy, breed, or maybe even age?
Whatever the real reason is, these dogs all deserve a home, and it’s up to us to give them one. We can all just know immediately that they will change our lives; we just need to give them the chance.
This pup ended up at a big shelter in Florida, but there was just one problem and it was making it difficult for her to find a home. This is his story.
Unlucky Pup
Croqueta is the sweetest dog ever who just happens to be very unlucky when it comes to adoption. When she was first taken to the Miami-Dade Animal Shelter, she was placed at the very last row in the very last kennel there.
This made it difficult for her to be seen, even though she was a very outgoing and well-behaved dog. But despite that, somebody did notice.
A kind woman noticed how unhappy Croqueta was, and she wanted to do something about it. She wanted to raise awareness about her story.
When she saw her sitting in her kennel, it broke her heart because she could tell just how sad Croqueta was. You could just see it in her eyes.
She was desperate to get out of her kennel and live a better life, but that was not an option right now. The kind woman, who was a volunteer, took her out to play in the yard.
You could see Croqueta’s face light up, as she sprinted toward the exit. She really needed this. Her personality really got a chance to shine when she was allowed to play.
Croqueta’s Story
When the volunteer went to ask around about Croqueta’s backstory, she was shocked to learn that the pup was surrendered by her owner.
How and why? Well, they were told that she didn’t get along with other dogs. While that may be true in one case, the kind woman who took Croqueta out to play knew that wasn’t true.
The staff who work at the Florida shelter decided to test that by putting her in a playgroup, and she did amazingly. She was just really sweet and friendly to every dog.
It’s possible that the reason she was abandoned was just an isolated incident, but the rescuers are hopeful that this experiment will show potential adopters that she can fit in anywhere.
It doesn’t matter to her who she is with, as long as she is happy. It might be hard to find her because the shelter houses over five hundred dogs, but they are all optimistic about her future.
The amazing woman who volunteered to play with her also hopes that this story will raise enough awareness to help her find a home.
