A sweet pup endured the loneliest and scariest period of her life after her owner mercilessly tied her to a fence near the main road in Cleveland, Ohio, and left her for good.
The dog, later named Cora, clung to the hope that someone would see her and set her free.
Unfortunately, since the fence she was tied to was lined with trees and bushes, the doggo blended in with the environment and went unnoticed for days.
The exhausted pup kept gazing at the road with her tearful eyes, desperately waiting for someone to finally see her.
Another Chance At Happiness
Cora spent three days tied up to a fence without food and water until a Good Samaritan spotted her and called animal control.
As soon as she got the call, Melina Russo, an animal control officer at Cleveland Animal Control, dashed to the location.
Her heart sank when she met Cora, who was excited to see her despite being let down by humans. The pup couldn’t stop wagging her tail.
Russo talked to her as she moved closer. Once she saw how happy Cora was to see her, she knew that she could approach her.
The pup licked her hands, as if she was giving her thanks and asking for food.
Russo gave her treats and slipped a leash over her neck. As she untied her and led her to the car, the doggo sensed that from now on, things would change.
The animal officer scanned her for a microchip, only to find out that she didn’t have one.
She loaded Cora in the car and drove her to the shelter.
Everyone at the shelter was delighted with Cora, who loved interacting with people and had great manners. At the same time, the staff felt devastated because the pup had experienced such an ordeal.
After she began recovering, Cora was ready to begin searching for a family that would love her forever.
The Happiness She Longed For
Two weeks after she was admitted to the Ohio shelter, an amazing thing happened.
A wonderful family arrived at the shelter to see Cora. When the pup saw them, she started wagging her tail and asking for pets.
The family instantly fell in love with her and decided to take her home.
“I just knew she was ours,” Erin, Cora’s new mom, told The Dodo.
Cora moved in with her new family, leaving her sad past behind.
They showered her with love and care, and made her feel safe and cherished. The more time she spent with her humans, the more her delightful personality began to shine.
They love her deeply and can’t imagine their lives without her.
“She is home. We are so lucky to have her. And I couldn’t imagine her not being a part of our family,” Erin added.
From a desperate and malnourished pup left on the road, Cora turned into a happy dog who finally had the unconditional love she deserves.
