They say that time heals a broken heart. While this is often true, sometimes it takes a whole eternity for a dog to overcome its trauma from the past.
Their scars heal slowly, yet a mere breeze of a past memory can trigger that fear all over again.
One tiny pup felt that terror firsthand when his owners abandoned him on the street, tying him tightly to a pole. Left alone, defenseless, and frightened of everything around him, he stood frozen, praying that someone kind might notice and help.
No One Came To His Aid

Dozens of people walked by, yet not a single one stopped to lend a hand. At most, some paused long enough to take a picture before continuing on their way.
The little dog’s need was desperate, but with no way to free himself, he remained stranded, his heart breaking more with every passing minute.
Then, against all odds, help finally arrived.

After a long, lonely night, a rescuer appeared. It was Suzette Hall, a well-known rescuer and the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California, and a lifeline to countless abandoned dogs.
“He was there all night tied to that pole,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
Seeing him in that state crushed her. She couldn’t understand how so many could walk past without stopping to help.
“I can’t believe how many people commented that saw him tied there and just took pictures. Well, I have him safe,” Hall added.
With gentle care, she untied the trembling pup, lifted him into her arms, and carried him to her car. For him, everything was about to change.
Safe At Last

In the front seat, the dog was still shaking, his little body rigid with fear. Yet at the same time, he looked at Hall with the softest eyes, almost as if whispering, “Thank you, kind hooman.”
She stroked his head, giving him quiet reassurance, and promised him that life would only get better from here.
“I told him we would figure it all out. The best part and my favorite part is he knew it was going to be ok, and fell asleep driving to my vet,” Hall concluded in the post.

Soon, the pup was taken to a Southern California veterinary clinic to be examined for any health concerns.
While he rests and begins healing, Hall and her devoted team continue their mission of rescuing others like him. Sadly, abandoned dogs are more common than ever, and each one needs the same compassion that saved this little pole pup.
Good luck, Suzette, and thank you for reminding the world that kindness still exists.
