At a recent adoption event in Tampa Bay, families filled the room with excitement as they searched for their new four-legged companion.
Children laughed, dogs wagged their tails, and papers shuffled as lucky pups were chosen by their forever families. But not every dog got the happy ending they dreamed of.
In the corner, lying quietly, was Mama Eve. She wasn’t barking or jumping to grab attention. She simply waited, hoping someone would notice her. Sadly, no one did.
The Sweetest Mama
The Mercy Full Project, a Florida-based rescue caring for her, realized they needed to find a way to make people see just how special she is. They decided to share her story through a TikTok video.
“Mama Eve just got home from another adoption event without a single person even wanting to pet her,” the caption read.
For those who know her well, it was heartbreaking to see her overlooked time and time again.
Mama Eve’s journey began like too many others.
“She came to us super-pregnant and was living outside before,” said Isabelle Hucko from Mercy Full Project.
She was welcomed into a foster home, where she finally had shelter, food, and safety. Soon after, she gave birth to ten healthy puppies.
“She gave birth to 10 babies in our care once she went into her foster home,” Hucko explained. “She was a great mom. It’s clear that she missed them as they left her care. Seeing her part with the pups was so sad to see.”
Her puppies, adorable and full of energy, were quickly adopted into loving homes. But Mama Eve was left behind.
Still Waiting For A Family
Months have gone by, and Mama Eve has attended event after event with no luck.
The saddest part is that she has everything anyone could want in a companion. She’s gentle, affectionate, and calm with kids and other dogs. Yet one thing has been holding her back: she is a pit bull mix.
“Mama Eve has struggled to get adopted mainly because nobody wants to adopt pit bulls due to the bad stereotype against them,” Hucko said.
Thankfully, the TikTok video brought her story into the spotlight, gathering support and love from people all over the world who were touched by her situation. That encouragement is what keeps the rescue team motivated.
Since arriving in foster care, Mama Eve has blossomed. She enjoys playing outside, curling up after long walks, and spending time with other dogs. She’s calm, steady, and just a little shy when first meeting people, but once she trusts you, she’s all love.
“We would love for her to go to a home with other dogs in it, with a fenced-in backyard, with a fence taller than 6 feet or higher,” Hucko shared. “One that is active and ready to give her all the love in the world.”
That’s all she dreams of: a family who loves her just as deeply as she loves them, a home where she’s not always the last one waiting.
Mama Eve continues to show up to every adoption event with her tail wagging, hoping each time that this will be her moment.
One day, someone will look past her breed and see her for who she truly is: a devoted mama who raised ten pups and has endless love to give. One day, she will finally find her forever home.
