At the latest adoption event in Tampa Bay, excited families came in search of their new furry friend. 

Children giggled, tails wagged, and papers rustled as lucky dogs were claimed by incredible adopters. Unfortunately, not everybody had the best day. In the corner, lying quietly, was Mama Eve.

She wasn’t barking. She wasn’t begging. She was just waiting for somebody to notice her, but nobody did. 

Sweetest Mama Ever

The Mercy Full Project, a Florida rescue that has been caring for her, knew they had to do something in order to get her more attention so they decided to make a TikTok video dedicated just to her.  

“Mama Eve just got home from another adoption event without a single person even wanting to pet her,” the caption read.

For the team who knows how sweet she is, it was absolutely heartbreaking to see her overlooked.

Mama Eve’s story began the way too many do. 

“She came to us super-pregnant and was living outside before,” said Isabelle Hucko from Mercy Full Project. 

Taken in by a foster family, she finally had warmth, food, and safety. Then, she gave birth to ten incredible puppies.

“She gave birth to 10 babies in our care once she went into her foster home,” Hucko said. “She was a great mom. It’s clear that she missed them as they left her care. Seeing her part with the pups was so sad to see.”

Being so adorable, it came as no surprise when all ten puppies found a loving home in no time!

But not Mama Eve.

The Search Continues 

Months have passed. Adoption event after adoption event, and Mama Eve still had no luck. 

But the saddest part is that she’s not lacking anything as a companion. She’s sweet, affectionate, calm around kids and other dogs. But there’s one thing – she is a pit bull mix.

“Mama Eve has struggled to get adopted mainly because nobody wants to adopt pit bulls due to the bad stereotype against them,” Hucko stated. 

Luckily, the Florida rescue’s TikTok video did manage to get some traction, gathering hoomans  from all over the world who expressed just how adorable this sweet mama truly was.

And that’s the hope that keeps the Mercy Full team going.

Mama Eve has been in foster care since January and in that time, she’s blossomed. 

She loves playing in the backyard, curling up after long walks, and being around other dogs. She’s steady, gentle and just a little reserved when meeting new people. But once she knows she’s safe, she is all over you!

“We would love for her to go to a home with other dogs in it, with a fenced-in backyard, with a fence taller than 6 feet or higher,” Hucko shared. “One that is active and ready to give her all the love in the world.”

That’s all she wants. A chance to be loved as much as she loves in a home where she isn’t the last one waiting.

Mama Eve still shows up to every event. She still wags her tail when someone walks near and she still hopes.

And one day, someone will stop. Someone will see beyond her breed and into the soul of a dog who raised ten puppies and loved every single hooman that passed by. Someone will give her a home!
