Too often, dogs are overlooked by potential adopters simply because of how they look. For Pit Bulls, this happens more than most.
One heartbreaking example comes from Florida, where a dog named Yogi has spent more than two years waiting for someone to see past his appearance. Though he may look tough, Yogi is anything but intimidating. Still, visitors continue to walk past his kennel without giving him a chance.
Yogi dreams of finding love, but for now, he remains in his shelter, hoping the right person will finally stop and see him.
Given Up Without Doing Anything Wrong

Yogi was surrendered to Humane Society Naples in Florida after his previous owner moved and could no longer care for him.
“….Yogi has been with us for 785 days without ever experiencing a foster home or a break from the shelter,” the rescue wrote on Instagram.
From the moment he arrived, Yogi has shown nothing but kindness and affection. Sadly, most people don’t take the time to notice.

Visitors often glance at his muscular build and strong features, then move on.
“Many people overlook Yogi due to his rough past and intimidating appearance, but he deserves a second chance just as much as any other dog,” the rescue added.
Each day, Yogi waits patiently at the kennel door, watching other dogs leave with their new families. He’s said goodbye to countless friends, always hoping his turn will come next.
Waiting For Someone Who Sees His Heart
Beneath Yogi’s serious look is a deeply loyal and affectionate dog. Shelter staff describe him as a devoted companion who would thrive in the right home.
“Yogi is desperately looking for the right family who will show him the love, care, and patience he needs. Most of all, Yogi is loyal and forms intense connections with his people,” they shared.
Though he may seem distant at first, once he trusts you, Yogi reveals his gentle nature. With time and understanding, he can become the kind of best friend every dog lover hopes for.

Yogi also has a playful side. He enjoys adventures, long walks, and spending time with other dogs.
“Yogi is a true gentleman, loving his busy boxes and treats, and he enjoys rolling around on the back seat floor. He does great on walks in the park. He loves playing with his dog friends too,” the rescue wrote.
For now, Yogi remains in his kennel, waiting for someone to finally choose him. When that day comes, he’ll offer unwavering love and bring joy to the life of the person who gives him a chance.
