When seven-year-old Peanut was transferred to the Humane Society of Broward County in Florida, staff and volunteers quickly realized she was a bit of a mystery. No one knew much about her past.
However, she soon captured their hearts with her irresistible personality. Peanut was a wonderful pup who had a lot of love to give.
Shortly after her arrival at the shelter, staff noticed a habit that made them love her even more.
Looking For A Loving Family
Peanut found her own way of coping with the stressful, noisy shelter environment.
Whenever the staff and volunteers gave her stuffed toys, she would carry them in her mouth for hours. They gave her comfort and made her feel relaxed.
Peanut’s shelter friends wanted to make her happy, so they gave her as many different stuffies as possible, and the pup loved them all.
“We always try and make sure she has a variety to choose from,” the shelter said in a video for The Dodo.
Peanut adored her stuffies, and every morning she would grab one in her mouth and carry it along as she headed out to potty. She took her stuffies wherever she went, even on excursions.
The doggo longed to find a family who would love her immensely, but because of her age, many adopters passed her by.
Peanut didn’t give in to sadness. She was always cheerful and wagged her tail with excitement, greeting everyone who walked by. She never lost hope that someone would notice her and fall in love with her.
She dreamed of finding a family and living a normal life outside the shelter walls.
“Peanut has been with us for some time, and we truly don’t understand why. She greets everyone at her kennel door with pure joy, always ready to make a new friend,” the shelter wrote on Facebook.
Peanut’s Dream Comes True
Wishing to help Peanut get adopted, Humane Society of Broward County shared a video of her as she offered stuffies to everyone who walked by.
Their plan proved to be successful.
A great family came across her video and fell in love with her. They arrived at the Florida shelter and signed the adoption paperwork.
The staff and volunteers were overjoyed that Peanut found her happiness.
Before she headed to her new home, the staff gave their sweet girl a stuffie. The doggo said goodbye to them, took her toy and rushed to greet her new family and her doggy brother.
Peanut’s lonely days at the shelter are over.
The doggo is over the moon because she finally found a family who would love her to the moon and back. We couldn’t be happier for her and we wish her all the best.
