Cali has everything that any dog owner could want in a dog. She is wonderful and sweet, eager to shower everyone with love.
Her story begins when she was surrendered to the Animal Care Society in Louisville, Kentucky, along with her siblings.
Everything seemed to be going great for Cali when she found a forever home.
Little did anyone know that her dreams of a happy future would eventually fall apart, leaving her heartbroken.
Cali Gets Returned
In 2023, shortly after arriving at the shelter, Cali was adopted, and she moved in with her new family, convinced that she had found her happiness.
She shared her new home with other dogs.
Several months went by, and everything seemed great until Cali began feeling jealous of her doggy siblings, and her family returned her to the shelter.
Cali showed her resilience and managed to bounce back from her heartbreak.
Luck seemed to be in her favor, and another family fell in love with her and decided to give her another chance.
Cali was happy to start a new life with her new adoptive family. This time, she was convinced that it was her forever home.
Unfortunately, the doggo faced another disappointment. Her owners surrendered her back to the shelter because of the changes in their work circumstances.
Cali returned to the shelter once again, feeling confused and hurt.
Ignored Through No Fault Of Her Own
Although the shelter staff hoped that she would find another home soon, that didn’t happen. Cali desperately yearned for love, but she was sadly overlooked.
Her shelter friends were convinced that the reason why nobody adopted her was that Cali needed to be the only dog, and most of the people already had pets.
The pup recently went to an adoption event filled with hope that her luck would change. She watched families approach other dogs and take them home, and nobody paid any attention to her.
Feeling invisible and unloved, Cali sat in her crate with the saddest expression on her face. She realized that all her doggy friends found a home except for her.
The Kentucky shelter recorded a video of Cali as she was left alone at the adoption event.
Although the heartbreaking video touched many people, Cali kept waiting for someone to take her home. Several families asked about her, but nobody came to meet her at the shelter.
The News That Everyone Was Waiting For
Her shelter friends hoped that Cali’s situation would soon change and that she would find the happiness and love that her heart desires.
The doggo couldn’t wait to meet her humans and shower them with affection.
On May 22nd of 2025, the shelter posted the news that everyone was waiting for! Cali went to her foster-to-adopt home.
“This means her new family fully intends to adopt her and give her the forever home she deserves. The next three weeks will be a trial period to ensure Cali feels comfortable and settles in well,” the shelter shared on Facebook.
