On their way to a medical appointment, Dyesa and a friend noticed something that immediately felt out of place outside a grocery store in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sitting quietly inside a shopping cart was a small puppy, completely alone.
They pulled over without hesitation to check on him. The little dog appeared nervous and unsure at first, but as soon as the women approached, his body softened.

Dyesa later shared a video on her TikTok account, explaining what had happened and hoping someone might recognize the dog or step forward to adopt him.
The video spread quickly. Viewers expressed sadness for the puppy and frustration that no one at the store had helped earlier. Most people believed Herbert had been abandoned.
Then, just days later, new information surfaced that changed everything.
Five days after her original post, Dyesa shared an update revealing that Herbert had not been left behind at all.
“The dog ran out of the house, and the owner couldn’t locate him,” Dyesa explained in a comment.
How the puppy ended up inside a grocery cart remained a mystery, but one thing was certain. His family had been desperately looking for him.
Herbert’s owner had been calling local shelters nonstop, hoping for any sign of his missing dog. Because Herbert was still under a standard three-day stray hold, his information had not yet appeared in shelter records.
