Ohio Plumber’s Workday Turns Into A Rescue Mission For A Silent Feathery Stranger

Some days begin like any other, but then something unexpected stops you in your tracks and changes everything.

That’s exactly what happened to Trevor Hayes, a plumber working in Ohio. His daily routine usually involves visiting homes to fix plumbing problems. But one seemingly ordinary day took an unusual turn.

As he approached a client’s house, he noticed a small, brown, feathery clump near a garage two doors down. Curious, he walked over to investigate. What he saw next left him stunned.

Eyes In The Shadows

At first, Trevor couldn’t tell what he was looking at. But when the creature slowly turned toward him, revealing two glowing eyes, he instantly knew something was wrong.

“It was just staring at me and didn’t look like it was doing good,” Hayes told The Dodo.

As he looked closer, everything became clear.

“I knew it was an owl right away. I’m pretty familiar with the wildlife around here, but it was odd seeing the owl in broad daylight, especially in front of someone’s garage on the ground,” Hayes said.

Thinking the owl might be stunned or confused, Trevor gave it space and went on to complete his plumbing job. But when he returned and saw the bird still hadn’t moved, he felt a sense of urgency.

“I figured I should probably do something, so I knocked on the homeowner’s door but didn’t receive an answer,” Hayes said.

A Call For Help

Determined to act, Trevor contacted RAPTOR Inc., a bird rescue and rehabilitation center based in Milford, Ohio. The staff provided step-by-step instructions on how to safely capture and transport the owl.

He gathered a box, a pair of thick gloves, and a drop cloth. Then he returned to the spot with one mission: to get the owl to safety. Fortunately, the bird didn’t resist and was soon resting inside the box, ready for help.

The caring team at RAPTOR Inc. welcomed Trevor and the owl warmly. They quickly began examining the bird and made sure it received proper treatment.

“They said the owl is doing great,” Hayes stated.

Later, Trevor learned the owl had been moved to a larger enclosure at the Milford facility to continue healing. The goal is to release him back into the wild once he’s strong enough.

Now, everyone is looking forward to the moment this striking bird spreads his wings again and returns to the skies where he belongs.
