In Southern California, one tired Pittie was spotted curled up on the side of the road. At first, it seemed like she was simply another abandoned dog trying to survive.
But when the woman who noticed her looked closer, she realized the Pittie wasn’t alone. Two frightened pups were tucked right beside their mama, waiting silently for someone kind enough to help.
It was clear this little family had been discarded like they didn’t matter. But rescue was already on the way.
A Mama Trying To Protect Her Babies
The woman who found them quickly reached out to Suzette Hall, of Logan’s Legacy, a well-known rescuer in Irvine, California.
Hall has spent years saving forgotten dogs, and when she heard about a mother trying to care for her pups on the street, she wasted no time heading over.
What she didn’t expect was how quickly the dogs gave in. Instead of running, the mama, later named Starling, rushed straight into Hall’s arms as if she had been waiting for this moment all along.
Her two puppies trailed close behind, ready to follow wherever their mother went.
Finally Able To Rest
Hall was stunned by Starling’s trust. Most abandoned dogs are wary and defensive, but this mama seemed to know she was finally safe.
“She is exhausted. She has had a hard job after being thrown out like trash with her two babies,” says Hall.
Starling and her pups, soon named Swift and Chickadee, were carefully lifted into Hall’s car. For the first time in a long while, Starling could relax. Her little family was no longer in danger.
Healing Together In Foster Care
After a medical checkup, the trio settled into foster care. Almost immediately, they blossomed. The once-weary mama turned into a snuggly, affectionate pup, and her babies soaked up all the love and training they could get.
“Starling is one of a kind. She is gentle, so incredibly loving, will kiss you to pieces. She is super small. Her pics make her look bigger than she is. She gets along with dogs and cats. If you were to look up the definition of her in the dictionary it would say: perfection,” Suzette wrote on her Instagram.
Swift and Chickadee soon found forever homes, but Starling waited just a little longer for her turn.
From Streets To Sunshine
One day, family came to meet Starling and the connection was instant.
They already had a sweet pup named Ruby, and Starling fit in seamlessly. It was clear she was meant to join them. They renamed her Summer, a perfect symbol for the new chapter she was beginning.
“A true from trash to treasure story. She is now Summer and living the dream. Going to the beach, to concerts, road trips, out to dinners and she has a new best friend, her new fur sister Ruby,” Hall wrote.
Now, Summer spends her days going to the beach, enjoying road trips, tagging along to concerts, and sharing every adventure with her new best friend Ruby.
From being tossed aside like trash to becoming a cherished family dog, Summer’s journey is the definition of transformation. She finally has the life every dog deserves: full of love, joy, and security.
