Losing a pet, even for only a few hours, is a traumatic experience. Now, imagine the heartbreak Bishop’s owner had to endure when his four-legged buddy was stolen on a subway in New York City.
Shocked to the core, the owner desperately scanned the entire area, but to no avail. He lost all track of him and didn’t know if Bishop was safe or being treated well.
Fortunately, only hours after the incident, a kind-hearted couple spotted a familiar furry face. The only issue was – they didn’t know at the time that it was, in fact, Bishop.
36 Hours Of Uncertainty
Will Zurier and Margaret Molloy, a couple from New York, were on a daily stroll with their own Pittie, Banks, when they stumbled upon a shocking sight. There he was, Bishop, tied to a bench in the West Village. To make things worse, it was raining, and he had nowhere to go.
The couple acted promptly. Instead of waiting for the animal control to arrive, they took matters into their own hands, taking Bishop home for the night.
On their way home, they took him for a vet checkup to make sure he didn’t have any underlying health problems. In the meantime, Will and Margaret explored every avenue, checked the hospital to see if anyone got admitted and left the dog, and even called the police.
Sadly, there were no reports of any kind.
As a last resort, Margaret tried posting Bishop’s story on her social media. She didn’t expect much, given her small number of followers.
Then, it happened. The video of Bishop went viral in just a few hours and spread all over the internet, reaching so many people, including the person who recognized the dog.
On a different platform, the owner’s friend posted a plea about Bishop, explaining how he was stolen from the subway from his owner, and the woman immediately connected the dots.
“Someone picked up his Pitbull and ran off with it just as the doors were closing,” the friend’s post read.
To think that Bishop was stolen and left in a different part of the city in just a few hours was unbelievable. Luckily, thanks to Margaret and Will, he was brought to safety before anything bad happened, and his rescuers soon got in contact with his original owner.
They agreed to meet at the vet to ensure safety. Although excited to reunite Bishop with his hooman, the couple couldn’t help but feel a bit uncertain about how things would unfold.
Then, the moment arrived…
Heartwarming Reunion
As soon as Bishop saw his owner walking in that door, he immediately ran toward him, wagging his tail and melting into his arms.
“Bishop has been reunited with his human,” Margaret stated in an update post explaining Bishop’s entire story.
It was a truly touching scene to witness for everyone. After 36 hours of uncertainty and drama, Bishop was finally safe.
Although Will and Margaret were proud owners of a rescue Pittie, this was their very first rescue experience, and it proved to be incredibly rewarding!
Watching Bishop reunite with his owner and walk happily back into his life was truly heartwarming. Hopefully, the pup won’t face such challenging situations again in the future.
