Pit Bull Stolen On New York Subway Found Hours Later, Tied To A Bench In The Pouring Rain

Losing a beloved pet, even briefly, can feel devastating. Now imagine the anguish Bishop’s owner went through when his faithful companion was snatched away on a New York City subway.

Panicked and heartbroken, the owner searched everywhere, but Bishop had vanished. He had no idea if his pup was safe or in danger.

Thankfully, just a few hours later, a twist of fate put Bishop in the path of two kind strangers—though at first, they didn’t realize it was him.

New Yorkers Will Zurier and Margaret Molloy were out for their daily walk with their own Pittie, Banks, when they stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight. A dog was tied to a bench in the West Village, shivering in the rain with nowhere to go. That dog was Bishop.

Without hesitation, the couple rushed to help. Instead of waiting for animal control, they decided to take him in themselves, bringing Bishop home for the night.

On the way, they stopped at a vet to check his health. Meanwhile, they did everything they could to track down his family. They called hospitals, reported the situation to police, and checked if anyone had left behind a missing dog report.

But nothing came up.

As a last effort, Margaret shared Bishop’s story on her social media. With only a handful of followers, she didn’t expect much—but the video quickly spread like wildfire. Within hours, it went viral and eventually reached the right person.

On another platform, Bishop’s owner’s friend had posted a desperate plea, explaining how Bishop had been stolen right from the subway.

“Someone picked up his Pitbull and ran off with it just as the doors were closing,” the post read.

The realization hit—this was the same dog. Bishop had been taken across the city and abandoned in the rain, tied to a bench. Thanks to Will and Margaret, he was finally safe, and they quickly made arrangements to reunite him with his owner.

To make sure everything went smoothly, they agreed to meet at the vet. While they felt hopeful, there was still nervous anticipation as the moment approached.

A Reunion To Remember

The second Bishop spotted his owner walk through the door, he bolted forward, wagging his tail furiously before collapsing into his arms.

“Bishop has been reunited with his human,” Margaret shared in a heartfelt update.

It was an emotional reunion after 36 long hours of fear and uncertainty.

For Will and Margaret, already proud parents to a rescue Pittie, this was their first true rescue experience. Seeing Bishop run back into his owner’s arms made it all worth it.

The couple was overjoyed to have helped bring about such a happy ending. And for Bishop, it was proof that love—and a little luck—can overcome even the scariest twists of fate.
