Pennsylvania Pit Bull Mix Was Trapped In A Crate So Hot Rescuers Could Barely Believe He Survived

No dog should have to live through neglect, but far too many still do. Some are left in conditions so harsh that it is difficult to comprehend how they survive at all.

Redds, a gentle Pit Bull mix in Pennsylvania, was one of them.

What happened to him was almost too painful to imagine. During an intense summer heatwave, he was found trapped inside a small metal crate with hardly any air moving through it.

Under the blazing sun, that enclosure had become like an oven, and by the time he was discovered, Redds was weak, barely conscious, and fighting to hold on.

That nightmare ended when rescuers reached him.

They arrived determined to pull him out of that suffering and give him the chance at life he had been waiting for.

Trapped In The Heat

When the Philly Bully Team received a report about a dog in distress, they knew there was no time to waste. Every minute mattered.

Upon arriving, rescuers were horrified by what they saw. Inside a metal crate, sweltering under the sun, was Redds. His paw pads were burned from standing on the scorching surface.

To make matters worse, Redds was dehydrated and suffering from heat exhaustion. His owners had kept him outside in the blazing sun, exposed to the elements without shade or relief.

“We don’t know how he survived. His paw pads are burnt from standing on hot metal for days on end. But now, we’re able to give him the second chance he deserves,” the Pennsylvania rescue shared in the post.

A heartbreaking video captured the moment rescuers approached the crate and carefully freed Redds from the stifling heat.

He was rushed to a nearby shelter, where veterinarians treated his burns and rehydrated him. After receiving the care he desperately needed, Redds began to recover both physically and emotionally.

Despite all he had been through, Redds showed nothing but love. Once he felt safe, his playful and affectionate personality began to shine.

He wagged his tail nonstop and covered everyone in kisses, as if he understood that he had finally been given another chance at life.

Still, one thing was missing. He needed a permanent home where he could feel truly secure.

A New Beginning

Just two months after his rescue, the Philly Bully Team shared wonderful news: Redds had officially been adopted.

His new family was everything he needed and more. A compassionate veterinarian decided to give him the forever home he always deserved.

Now, Redds spends his days enjoying a big yard, napping on soft beds, and going on daily zoomies. He even tags along to work with his new mom.

While he still has some crate anxiety and prefers not to be left alone, his mom is patiently helping him regain his confidence.

Today, Redds is thriving. His transformation from a dog trapped in unbearable heat to one surrounded by love is proof of what compassion can do.

He’s living the life he always deserved, safe, loved, and finally free.
