People Were Thrilled When They Saw What Shelter Volunteer Did For A Sweet Overlooked Pup From Ohio

Shelters were never supposed to be long-term homes but places where dogs stay for a short time before finding their forever home.

Unfortunately, some shelter pups wait in shelters longer than others.

They get overlooked through no fault of their own and are forced to spend a lot of time behind the four kennel walls.

Nina was one of the overlooked dogs who kept waiting for her forever humans to come and shower her with love.

She watched her shelter doggy friends leave with their parents, wondering why nobody wanted to adopt her.

A Shelter Staff Favorite

Nina was rescued from the streets and brought to City Dogs Cleveland, a shelter in Ohio, in December of 2024.

From the very beginning, it was clear that she was a sociable and friendly dog.

The staff expected that Nina would find a loving family soon, but sadly, she got overlooked. Although she received some adoption interest, the wonderful pup was never chosen, and she became the shelter’s longest resident.

Her shelter friends kept rooting for her to meet the right family. They only had words of praise for her, and they knew that she would be an ideal furry companion.

“This bright, bubbly brindle lady is friendly, engaging and energetic. Fun-loving and friendly, she is as eager for play time as she is for snuggles,” the Ohio shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

Wishing to give Nina a break from the shelter, a shelter volunteer named Katie took her for a sleepover.

Nina enjoyed it to the fullest. She was glad because she could relax in a peaceful environment away from the shelter’s noise.

The pup loved going on walks and cuddling with Katie on the couch.

She delighted her host with her house manners and affectionate disposition.

“[She] slept in bed and is a very kissy cuddler. She napped and relaxed most of day but had to be by me. (It was great to see her affectionate side away from the kennel!) …,” City Dogs Cleveland shared Katie’s impressions on Facebook.

The pup wasn’t a fan of baths, and she tried to avoid them a couple of times.

According to Katie, she likes adventures and she enjoys going on car rides.

Nina Hopes To Meet Her Family Soon

During her sleepover, Nina proved what her shelter friends already knew – she is ready for her forever home.

Katie disliked it when she had to return her to the shelter again.

The shelter shared a video of Nina’s sleepover on their TikTok, hoping that spreading the word about her would help her get adopted.

Although the clip garnered a lot of attention and melted the hearts of the TikTok community, it still hasn’t sparked any adoption interest.

We all hope that this will soon change. Nina deserves to leave the shelter for good and find her forever human who will give her all their love.
