The sweetest story of hope comes out of Southern California, where a tired Pittie mama was spotted by a kindhearted woman.
Alone and abandoned on the streets, the poor girl wasn’t just fending for herself—she was also caring for her tiny family.
Two pairs of sad, puppy eyes peeked out from behind her, silently begging for help. And help, luckily, was closer than they could have imagined.
Abandoned Like Trash With Her Pups

The woman wasted no time contacting Suzette Hall of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California. Hall, who has dedicated years to rescuing abandoned dogs, knew this little family couldn’t be left behind.

When she arrived, Hall was prepared for a long, careful rescue. But to her surprise, the exhausted mama, later named Starling, ran straight into her arms, as if she’d been waiting for her all along.
Her pups, who would soon be named Swift and Chickadee, eagerly followed their mother, ready for safety at last.
Melted Into Her Rescuer’s Arms

Hall was touched by how quickly Starling trusted her. After surviving so long on her own with two pups to protect, she must have endured countless struggles. But now, that battle was finally over.

“She is exhausted. She has had a hard job after being thrown out like trash with her two babies,” says Hall.
In that moment, the little family of three was finally safe and headed toward a better life.
The Family Trio Recovering In Foster Care

After a checkup at the vet hospital, Starling, Swift, and Chickadee were placed into foster care, where they blossomed almost instantly.
“Starling is one of a kind. She is gentle, so incredibly loving, will kiss you to pieces. She is super small. Her pics make her look bigger than she is. She gets along with dogs and cats. If you were to look up the definition of her in the dictionary it would say: perfection,” Suzette wrote on her Instagram.
Before long, both Swift and Chickadee found their forever families. Starling, however, had to wait just a little longer for her turn.
From Trash To Treasure – Summer Living The Dream

That wait ended in September 2022, when a wonderful family met Starling and immediately fell in love.
They already had a dog named Ruby, and the connection was instant—both between Starling and her new people, and between the two dogs.
“A true from trash to treasure story. She is now Summer and living the dream. Going to the beach, to concerts, road trips, out to dinners and she has a new best friend, her new fur sister Ruby,” Hall wrote.
Starling’s foster family knew she thrived on companionship, so having Ruby at her side made the match perfect.

Now called Summer, she spends her days enjoying beaches, outings, and endless cuddles.
After so much hardship, she’s finally living the carefree, love-filled life she always deserved.
