When Kelli Miller and her 15-year-old daughter set out to enjoy a game of pickleball at a local park in South Carolina, they thought it would just be another relaxing afternoon.
But shortly after arriving, a distressed woman ran toward them with alarming news—there were puppies in urgent need of help. She explained that she had spotted them by the park’s brook, all alone and unable to escape.
Kelli and her daughter immediately rushed to the spot. What they found broke their hearts: three tiny puppies stranded near the water with no mama dog in sight.
Rescue By The Creek

Seeing the pups shivering in fear, Kelli and her daughter knew they had to act quickly.
“It’s not like they were trying to drink and we discovered them. They were stuck … they were just standing there out of sheer fear,” Miller told The Dodo.
Jordan wasted no time. She climbed down to the creek and carefully began lifting the puppies to safety, one at a time.

It became clear just how urgent the situation was when one of the little ones nearly slipped beneath the water.
“I don’t think [he] would have lasted for too long,” Miller said. “He was freezing. I mean, he was really wet and shaking.”
Thanks to Jordan’s quick actions, all three puppies were rescued before it was too late.
Warming Them Up

Kelli and her daughter couldn’t be sure how the pups ended up there, but they suspected abandonment rather than a stray mama leaving them behind.
Either way, the girls were determined to help. With the puppies soaked and shivering, they gently placed them in the back of Miller’s truck so they could warm up and dry off.

After resting for a while, the pups perked up, and to the rescuers’ relief, they all seemed healthy despite their ordeal.
There was no need for medical intervention. Soon after, the K9 unit arrived and transferred the puppies to the Florence Area Humane Society in Florence, South Carolina.
A Fresh Start

At the shelter, the trio was given new names — Vin, Shep, and Caspar — and the fresh start they deserved.
Although Kelli and Jordan were the reason these little ones survived, they remained humble about their heroic actions.
“We were just grateful that we were able to help,” Miller said with a smile.
Thanks to their fast response and kindness, three innocent lives were saved from what could have been a tragic ending. Now, these pups are safe, loved, and ready to start their new journeys toward forever homes.
