For every devoted dog owner, nothing matters more than the health and well-being of their beloved pet.
So when a family from Los Angeles saw that their seven-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Luna, suddenly fell ill, their hearts sank.
Luna had begun vomiting, and her belly was swollen and firm to the touch. Alarmed, her owners didn’t waste a second — they rushed her to the Corona Animal Emergency Center in Corona, California, desperate for answers and hoping she would be okay.
They had no idea what was causing her discomfort… or the jaw-dropping surprise that awaited them at the vet.
A Shocking Discovery At The Clinic
Once they arrived at the hospital, the vet gave Luna a thorough examination.
An X-ray quickly revealed the shocking truth — Luna’s stomach was filled with foreign objects, and her intestines were completely blocked.
The puppy was taken into surgery immediately. The veterinary surgeon carefully removed every single object clogging her digestive tract — including a small onesie that had been wedged in her intestines.
The staff couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
“What we found was jaw-dropping: 24 socks, one scrunchie, two hair ties, one shoe insert, one small onesie (from her intestines!) and miscellaneous cloth pieces,” the hospital wrote on Instagram.
The clinic even shared the X-ray images alongside a photo of the vet posing with the astonishing pile of items removed from Luna’s stomach.
Thankfully, the surgery was a success. Luna’s life was saved, and she was already showing signs of returning to her happy, playful self.
A Wake-Up Call For Pet Owners
Now in recovery, Luna sports a protective cone to keep her from licking her stitches. Her tail is wagging again, and her energy is coming back.
The Corona Animal Emergency Center used Luna’s ordeal to remind other pet parents just how important it is to be watchful.
“Luna’s story is a reminder to trust your instincts. If you notice vomiting, lethargy, or a firm abdomen, don’t wait — act fast and contact your vet. Prevention is key, but we’re here for emergencies 24/7,” the clinic added.
For Luna’s family, this was a frightening but eye-opening experience. Determined to keep her safe, they have already started putting new measures in place to prevent her from swallowing dangerous objects again.
They’re making their home more puppy-proof, closely supervising her playtime, and working with a trainer to help Luna build better habits.
With her ordeal behind her, Luna is on the road to a full recovery — ready to go back to enjoying her life, this time with a little extra supervision and a lot of extra love.
