Every true dog parent adores their pup and would go to great lengths to keep them happy. Yet, dogs also have a mischievous streak and a natural curiosity that often leads them into hilarious trouble.
One clever pup in Tennessee figured out how to open the front door just by observing his human. But instead of trying out his new skill in daylight, he waited until the house was quiet and his owner was fast asleep.
And to make things even more entertaining, he included his feline siblings in the midnight escapade.
A Midnight Escape

Kelly, originally from New York but now living in Tennessee, captured the incident on October 23, 2024. She later posted the footage to her TikTok account, @ceallach330.
The video shows her dog sneaking out through the front door in the middle of the night, followed closely by three of her indoor cats.
“When the door is left unlocked and your dog figures out how to open it while you’re asleep, letting your 3 indoor cats out,” Kelly wrote in the clip.
The dog eagerly dashed into the yard, while the cats remained cautious, hovering near the doorway. One brave kitty crept closer to the stairs but ultimately decided against going any farther.

Not long after, the dog returned to the porch, sniffing around his feline friends as if trying to coax them into joining him. The cats, however, weren’t fooled and wisely stayed put.
Soon, two neighbors appeared in the yard. Spotting them, the dog’s playful side came out—he wagged his tail and bounded toward them. Thankfully, the kind neighbors guided him back inside and shut the door securely behind him.
Kelly couldn’t help but laugh at the chaos her furry crew caused.
“The entire menagerie, just out in the world… all willy nilly… not a care in the world! They are all grounded! 😂” she joked in her caption.
The viral video quickly drew plenty of attention on TikTok.

“Well, at least your dog was taking care of all 3 cats! They’d definitely all be grounded on my watch 😂,” one commenter wrote.
Another chimed in: “He was hoping the cats would run away lol.”
And a third praised the neighbors: “awesome neighbors.”
Although Kelly had previously teased her neighbors for minor things, this time she had nothing but gratitude. She pointed out how considerate they were to “let them all back in and [close] the door.”
Mischief With A Happy Ending
Dogs may get into trouble and drag others along for the ride, but moments like this remind us why they’re so cherished. Even their late-night antics have a way of bringing people together and creating heartwarming memories.
Kelly’s pets might have earned themselves a “grounding,” but at the end of the day, their adventure was just another example of how pets make life a little less predictable—and a whole lot more joyful.
