“You think you know someone…” Imagine believing you’ve just hit the jackpot with the breed you’ve always wanted, only to encounter something unexpected.
This was exactly what happened to Annalise, a Minnesota dog owner, when she brought home Rinka, her newly adopted Irish Setter. As a fan of this giant breed, Anna couldn’t be more enthusiastic about watching Rinka grow up.
However, a year passed, and nothing changed, ultimately leading Annalise to believe something was wrong.
Is Something Wrong?

In a TikTok video Anna shared with her followers, she explains that she didn’t know Rinka’s real DNA for the first year. Thinking she had adopted a giant who normally grows up to almost 30 inches at the shoulder, the Minnesota owner expected her pup to grow up fast.
However, that didn’t happen.
Instead, Rinka grew up to be a regular-sized pup with a lot of energy and excellent stamina. She had all the characteristics of the breed, minus the size. The reason?
Rinka was a field Irish Setter, not a show one!
“When we brought you home and didn’t know you were a field Irish setter for the first year and thought we had somehow forever stunted your growth,” the video text reads.
Once Anna learned this crucial information, everything became much clearer. Rinka was growing up normally, and her size was within normal limits.
“I genuinely believed that I had done something wrong because she wasn’t like all of the giant Irish Setters I saw everywhere,” Annalise wrote in the video description.

The video soon went viral, garnering the attention of many owners who had a similar situation with their four-legged friends.
Some even left hilarious comments.
“That’s how I found out my Aussie was a mini Aussie. I was so confused like why aren’t you growing, nope you’re just the tiny version,” one commenter wrote.
“Hahaha this happened to me with a cocker spaniel. What I actually got was a cocker spaniel cross sausage dog. So he looks like a cocker spaniel with really short legs and a longish body,” another added.
Living The Best Life

The truth is, even though Rinka isn’t the giant Anna expected her to be, she’s far more perfect than her owner ever expected.
Rinka is a friendly, energetic and happy-go-lucky pup. She loves outings, plays with her German Shepherd sister, and makes an excellent companion, just as Anna wanted.

The trio regularly goes on hikes, soaking in all the beauty of the scenery. And the best part? Rinka never gets tired! Her energy fits Anna’s life perfectly, making every new day a brand-new adventure for this Irish beauty.
Hopefully, this is just the first of many videos of Rinka we get to see. There’s no doubt that, from now on, this four-legged beauty has a whole army of fans waiting to see her next exciting adventure!
