Oklahoma Owner Checks Doorbell Camera And Sees His Dog Doing Something Stunning

Every time I see a dog pull off something extraordinary, I come to one conclusion: our four-legged friends are truly brilliant!

And no, I’m not just talking about the smartest breeds like German Shepherds, Poodles, or Collies. The truth is, every dog, when properly trained, socialized, or simply living long enough with humans who encourage their intelligence, has the potential to show its genius.

Hazel, a smart pup from Oklahoma, proves this perfectly.

While not trained to do anything beyond her “doggo spectrum of activities,” this furry girl recently left her owner, and the entire internet, in awe.

The reason?

She learned a new skill, and it was a big one!

He Didn’t Expect That

Patrick, a dog owner from Oklahoma, and his family, are used to Hazel’s talents. However, when they recently installed a Ring doorbell camera, little did they expect Hazel to expand her set of skills in such a short time.

Then, one day, it happened. What Hazel did the other day was just extraordinary and completely unexpected.

The Oklahoma owner received a Ring notification on his phone, informing him about the motion detected outside his front door.

While used to Hazel being outside on the front porch, what Patrick saw that day on camera truly left him in awe. It was Hazel – and she was trying to figure out a way inside… on her own!

“I got a Ring notification and watched the video back. We couldn’t believe it—our dog Hazel, a German Shepherd-Boxer mix under 1 year old, let herself out through the screen door,” says Patrick, as reported by Newsweek.

The video shows Hazel standing in front of the door for a few moments, just casually observing the neighborhood.

Then, suddenly, she climbs on the bench and stands on her back legs, as if trying to figure out the way to open the door…

Turns out, Hazel truly is a genius!

She barely spent seconds in front of the door, trying to open it with her paws. In the very next moment, the video shows Hazel succeeding. She successfully finished her “mission” and let herself inside the house like it was no big deal.

Proud and shocked at the same time, Patrick admits that Hazel’s actions have nothing to do with training. She was just smart enough to figure it out on her own.

“Turns out, I’ve got a very clever pup and now need to start locking the doors,” he said.

From now on, there’s no doubt that Patrick and his family will be more careful about Hazel’s whereabouts and “independent outdoor adventures.”

While her new skill truly is extraordinary, locking doors is the safest way to prevent this brilliant girl from a potentially dangerous situation. There’s no doubt her owners will revisit their safety methods!
