It started as a routine call, the kind Illinois officers handle every day. But when they arrived, it was clear this wasn’t an ordinary situation.
Somewhere inside the building, faint noises could be heard coming from behind a heavy freezer.
The officers followed the sound, trying to figure out what was trapped back there. When they realized how blocked off the area was, they knew it wouldn’t be easy.
What they found shortly after shocked them completely, and they realized that it wasn’t going to be an easy rescue.
How Did It Get There?
It was the middle of the night when a Good Samaritan was just walking the streets of Aurora, Illinois, and then stumbled upon something shocking.
He heard a noise coming from the back of an ice machine that is near a store, so he called the Aurora Police Department, and they came immediately.
The officers immediately got down to business and started looking for the source of the noise. After a while, they found a months-old kitten who had gotten stuck behind the ice machine.
He was desperately crying out for help, but nobody heard him until then. The only way to help the poor kitten would be to completely move the ice machine, but that was not going to be easy.
The officers couldn’t move it until they got rid of all the ice that was inside the machine, so they slowly started unloading everything.
After hauling over 1000 pounds of ice, the officer’s arms were freezing, but they didn’t mind the cold. Now that everything was moved out, they could move the freezers.
They slowly and carefully moved the ice machines just enough so that the kitten could get away. In a moment, he got out and was finally free.
He Is Making A Recovery
The Illinois officers were surprised that the kitten actually didn’t just run away, so they tried to comfort him after everything he had been through.
One of the representatives of the police department told The Dodo: “Surprisingly, the cat stayed right there and didn’t try to run away. I reached in and was able to pull him right out. I was certainly glad he was okay!”
Shortly after, the officers placed the kitten into a carrier and then called Aurora Animal Care & Control, who agreed to take him in.
After being saved by the officers and taken in by rescuers, the kitten received the necessary medical help and was slowly recovering.
While he was healing, the rescuers were planning on finding a forever home for him as soon as possible. He had been through a lot, and getting this second chance would mean everything to the kitten.
The representative ended by saying: “He’s doing well. Hopefully all this attention has brought someone who would like to adopt him.”
